Interviewed Feb 2012 in Memphis, TN (took a day)
Their interview process was fantastic. They flew a group of college grads out to do what they refer to as an interview blitz. The night before the blitz, we had a dinner event with many of the interviewers. It really cut the stress level for all the applicants.
The next day consisted of over 5 interviews crammed into the same day. It was taxing but rewarding. Everyone was considerate, relaxed, and easy going.

Interviewed Nov 2011 (took a day)
Got the interview after dropping a resume off at their booth at the school career fair. It was a half hour interview with two people. They were both from HR as opposed to engineers, and they didn't know much about the specifics of the job. They were mostly interested in filling out as much as possible on their interview sheets, which contained all of their predetermined questions.

Interviewed Dec 2009 in Memphis, TN (took 4+ weeks)
First you are screened on campus. Then when you are selected for second round interviews you have to interview with 5 different people as well as have mixers and lunch w/ someone from the company. The interviews are all situation based ie tell me about a time when you faced a challenge and how did you work through it, etc.

Negotiation Details
I would not advise negotiating. If you have a masters degree you maybe offered the max salary for an new hire so there is no room for negotiation. There maybe small room for negotiating if you have a B.S., but I wouldn't push it too much. Proably only have a max of $5K range to increase it to.

Interviewed Apr 2011 (took a day)
It was a phone interview to determine fit. A salary range and relocation were discussed and as soon as it was implied that it would be less than a perfect match the conversation came to a quick end. There did not seem to be much room for negotiation.

Interviewed May 2008 (took 4 days)
Normally there are several phases. You talk with line workers then a first level supervisor then a manager. Often you are considered for multiple positions at the same time so the process takes a lot longer than it would if it were only one set of individuals interviewing.
International paper tries to seem like a "family" so if you make a good impression early that gets passed on to the next people interviewing so the process gets easier and easier.

Negotiation Details
Little negotiation room on salary. You can get more in bonus and relocation easily though.

The interview happen at the University I attend. The interviewer ask different questions in regard to my academic work, the jobs that I had or currently have, and different work scenarios. Some the questions she ask was, how do I handle a work dispute and what ideas can I bring to the company. I answer all the questions to the best of my ability but didn't get the job.
