Interviewed Aug 2011 (took 2 days)
A recruiter for the company found me via LinkedIn, and sent me a message about the available software position. Within a few days I had a phone interview lined up, and shortly thereafter an on-site interview. On-site, I was interviewed by 5-6 different people from various departments. One was an HR interview that consisted of job history, general questions about how I work and fit into a group, and compensation requirements. Another was with the manager of the department I'd be working with, which was also non-technical but more related to how I viewed teamwork and what my qualifications for the position were. The others were all technical interviews dealing with programming topics, both in general terms and specific to my role. The questions were very fair, covering the topic without being so tricky and narrow that nobody could get them right. They seemed to respect my experience and all the questions were appropriate to the job I'd be doing.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Raleigh, NC (took 4 weeks)
Phone interview and onsite interview co-ordinated by their off-site HR department. I was invited for on-site interview the day after my tele-interview. Planning, organization was excellent. However, there appeared to be some disconnect within the organization. The employees who were critical to the selection process were not available on the day my interview was fixed. An adhoc interview team was created. No one in the team had any idea on what role I was interviewing for, where I would be placed. I did not hear from the HR or recruiter for over 3 weeks, against promised response time of maximum 15 days. After repeated calls, recruiter responded that the position had been eliminated after organization restructuring. The restructuring had been underway even when I had my first telephonic interview. In my opinion, instead of being hasty the hiring manager and HR should have waited till the reorganization was complete and then arranged for the onsite interview.
As for the company nice work culture, great environment. Most of the people I interviewed with ( even the directors) were friendly and made me feel at ease during the entire interview process. What I liked about the interviewers was that they appreciated the fact that I come from a totally different industry and they rephrased questions in a way that prompted me to think back to the basics and respond. This is as opposed to interviewers who are looking for buzz words in their response and don't care whether you know the basics behind the product design and operation.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Oconee, GA (took 2+ weeks)
They initially told me that the location was Raleigh but later as Oconee, SC. Interviewed with Manufacturing and R&D professionals. Had 2 telephone interviews before making it to the onsite for another 6 rounds of 30-45 mins each. Was quite technical especially that done by the R&D team.
Work culture is quite laid back relatively. Quite friendly people with a lot of old people working here all their life!

Interviewed Oct 2010 in West Union, SC (took a day)
they came to our university and i had submitted the resume to the representative. I received a call one day and was asked to come over to there office for the onsite interview at west union,sc, a very remote and boring place. they did not arrange the travel and also not the stay and when asked about it or left voicemail to the HR, no response from them. finally on the day of the interview, had five 1:1 interviews. with two people it was behavioral and questions on my resume but other three people asked lot of technical questions.i was also give questions to solve based on circuitry and programming. then had a tour of there facility. bad experience as they didn even reimburse the expenses or neither they asked about it.

Interviewed Dec 2009 in Walhalla, SC (took 5 days)
I called Phillips Staffing, a friend had told me that Itron hires through them. I went in on a Monday, filled out an application and spoke one on one with an interviewer. I was asked to go pick up an criminal background check from the local police department and to bring it with me to the Itron orientation that Wednesday. I arrived that Wednesday morning and was given a drug test right there in the office, there was about 15 of us in all attending this particular orientation. We filled out a few forms (direct deposit, tax forms, etc.). We also went over safety procedures and then we were told a national background check would have to be run on each of us and we should receive a phone call once there was an opening for the shift(s) we requested. I was called that Friday afternoon and scheduled to take an assessment test. When I took the assessment test and passed I was given a tour and asked to start work just a few days later.
