I attended an on-campus presentation. I then applied on my school's career website and I was contacted a few weeks later by a recruiter who received a paper copy of my resume that I left with the JP Morgan Chase presenters. The recruiter encouraged me to apply on the JP Morgan website and to notify him afterwards. After about a month of back and forth communication via email, I was eventually able to land a phone interview with two senior executives in Chicago.
The interview was meant to be 1 hour total, 30 minutes with each executive, but it ended up lasting over 2 hours. However, at the time I was under the impression that if they liked me, they would want to interview me in person. That never happened.... I was contacted the next day by the recruiter with an offer.
In terms of the questions I was asked...The questions I was asked weren't too bad. Make sure you do your research on JP Morgan's history and current events. I was asked to break down the different segments in which JP Morgan operates (good thing I prepared). I could tell that the executives I interviewed with were not giving interviews on a regular basis. One executive broke the interview into sections "About me", "About JP Morgan", "Skills", etc. and gave me 4 questions all at once under each category and told me to answer them in any order I wanted. While the style of the interview was a little different, the questions weren't all that difficult.
Interview Question –
Give me an excel function you would use to solve this problem... (I'm not able to remember the framework of the problem)
What is your leadership style
Tell me about a time you worked with a difficult indivudual

I applied for a job with Chase in early March. I was called by a branch March 8th to come in for an interview on the 11th. On the 11th I went to the interview, that was conducted by the assistant branch manager, and was asked questions about my job, customer service, and seeling skills. I was aked about times when I may have had to deal with a diffucult customer and how I handled it. I was also asked about a time I had gone above and beyond for a customer and why, among other questions. After my with the asst. branch manager I was interviewed by the branch manager. He asked his own set of questions and asked me if i had any. I only had a few about the position(ask questions! they want you to ask questions!). I left the interview feeling pretty confident. They said they were conducting more interviews but i would hear from them soon.
In the meantime I was called by another branch on the day of my first interview for an interview on the 13th. I accepted the interview. On the 12th branch #2 called back and said they had to cancel my interview until the first branch decided what they wanted to do with me. On the 13th branch #1 called and wanted me to come for a second interview. I went in on the 15th and met with the distrcit manager and the branch manager again. They asked a few more questions, some the same questions from the previous interview. They told me they would have a final decision made by the following Friday which was the March 22nd. March 19th they called and offered me the job.
I had to go to the Chase Tower to do some paperwork and fingerprinting. I also had to take a drug test and pass a background check. All of which I passed. I start training at my branch in April.
Interview Question – Why do you feel the need to go above and beyond for customers, sometimes with no direct benefit to you? Answer Question
No Offer – Interviewed in Chicago, IL Nov 2012 – Reviewed Mar 26, 2013
Interview Details – I submitted on online resume and then had a phone interview and 7 in-person interviews of 45 minutes to an hour each, which were broken into three rounds (three visits to their offices). There was over a month between each round and after the third round before I heard any feedback, then I got a weird form-letter rejection which appeared designed for someone who had merely submitted a resume. Not impressed by that.
