I applied online and the process took 4 weeks - interviewed at Jane Street in December 2010.

Interview Details – 3 phone interviews, 1st and 2nd from London and 3rd from US office. Mostly probability questions, some mental math in the first interview. Logic questions were asked in third interview and some basic market making questions. Questions about expected value comes up repeatedly, revolving around coin flips and die throws.

Interview Question – I am thinking of a number that does not contain the digit 1. The product of the digits is 96. What is the smallest possible number in my mind? How about the largest?   View Answers (3)

I applied through an employee referral and the process took a day - interviewed at Jane Street in October 2010.

Interview Details – Met a friend at the conference and got referred. 1st round interview was easy but 2nd became harder.

Interview Question – Player 1 chooses a number, then Player 2 chooses a different one. 2 dices are tossed, and whoever is closer to the outcome wins. Would you be P1 or P2? What number do you choose?   View Answers (5)
