Interviewed Sep 2010 in Winston Salem, NC (took 2 days)
KPMG threw the entire accounting program a incredible social, topping those of many of the other Big 4. The point of the social was to mix and mingle with the upper level employees who would be giving the interview the following day, so as to ease the tensions of the interview process. What resulted was a scavenger hunt with the students split up into teams, each team led by KPMG 1 employee. Despite common the stereotype depicting accountants as up-tight individuals, the event was both relaxing and enjoyable. The following day my 45 minute interview was fairly comfortable and fluid, and I have yet to hear back from them (the deadline is tomorrow). Throughout the process it seemed that the individuals really cared about their firm and enjoyed their jobs, something that was difficult to detect in the other Big 4.

Interviewed Apr 2010 (took a day)
First interview with KPMG. Was completely competency based. Interviewer even mentions the competency that is being tested before asking a series of 2-3 questions. So best have 2 or 3 examples per competency. You sort of know what competency is being tested cause they send it out in the email beforehand. Really nothing tricky at all except they do ask for your examples to be within the last 3 years. As long as you follow the STAR or CAR method in answering you would do fine. Do go through the website's list of competency and really read it.

Interviewed Nov 2008 in Raleigh, NC (took 3 weeks)
First I did the on campus recruiting. Then, I applied. Then I got an interview on campus. Then they sent me a letter saying I was selected for second interviews in the KPMG office. Then I went to the KPMG office for an interview with about five people. Then I got a phone call and an offer letter about a week later.

Interviewed Mar 2008 (took 4 weeks)
The people that I met had a sense of humor and were friendly. I had 2 interviews: 1 on-campus and 1 in the KPMG office. First one was 30 minutes with a senior manager, behavioral. Second was one 30 minute interview with a senior manager, lunch, then another 30 interview with a partner. Both were behavioral as well. It was pretty easy, just be yourself. They don't expect you to understand what auditing is right off the bat.

Interviewed Oct 2009 in San Francisco, CA (took 2 days)
KPMG first came on-campus and held first round interviews on campus. It was a 30 minute interview with a KPMG audit partner. It was more of a conversation than an interview, I think they just want to see if they like you. After my interview my interviewer said I would probably make it to 2nd rounds and to call him if I changed my mind about audit. I thought that was kind of weird but I was happy to hear that he thought I would make it!
During 2nd rounds, KPMG put us up in a hotel. We had intro and dinner the first afternoon and the following morning we had to do some group teambuilding exercises and then we had 2 30-minute interviews with a partner and a senior manager. Both were extremely nice and easy to talk to. It was really more about talking about my resume and also a conversation. After the interviews, they took us out for lunch!

Interviewed Oct 2009 (took 6 weeks)
Had a campus inerview with a Manager for KPMG. He was so laid back it was unbeleivable. I left the interview feeling pretty good about it (I'm from a top school and he seemed to acknowledge that). A couple weeks later, I received an email for a group office visit interview. This was basicallly lunch, an interview, an office tour, and two more interviews, one with a partner and one with a manager. They just asked typical behavioral questions and ran down your resume. I think that my positive attitude, confidence, and enthusiasm helped put me ahead of some of the other students. Also I had a list of prepared questions that I brought (ie IFRS or GAAP?). They seemed impressed by that.

Interviewed Apr 2008 in Los Angeles, CA (took 2 weeks)
First I had a phone interview, then I had a first round group interview with a bunch of other recruits - behavioral style interview. Then lastly I had an interview with a couple managers, a partner and a senior manager - the basic questions were asked. In all honestly, I wish I had never gotten the job.
