Interviewed Feb 2010 in Washington, DC (took 3 weeks)
Stay positive and know your stuff. You should also show that your a team player, since KPMG is centered around working in such an environment. HR was extremely helpful and the interviewers were prompt, knowledgeable and friendly. The process was nerve-racking for me since I really wanted this position but it was also smooth in the since that once a decision was made I was informed immediately.

Interviewed Oct 2009 in Atlanta, GA (took a day)
I gained contact with the company through a meeting held by UGA's SMIS organization for Management Information Systems majors. Afterwards, I attended a Fall Recruitment dinner also held by SMIS where many companies were represented (including KPMG). I made further contacts with them there, emailed them afterwards and interviewed with them on campus a week or so later.

Interviewed Mar 2009 in Los Angeles, CA (took a day)
One recruiter very outgoing and nice. The other seems a but unapproachable. Asked mostly behavioral questions, and answered with more information about the firm. Don't base your judgment of the firm based on the personalities of the recruiters. They are very different from the people that actually work there.

Interviewed Oct 2009 (took 1 week)
There were mainly three rounds of interview; these consisted of phone interview, manager interview, and partner interview. Phone interview was with HR, they wanted to make sure they were hiring a candidate who was able to answer some simple behavioral and resume questions on the spot; for example, "why did apply for this position, why KPMG". Usually they would offer you the second round once they are satisfied.Manager interview was more intense, this involved behavioral questions which you could easily obtain online, as well making sure they hired a candidate who knew exactly what their job composed of. Partner interview was extremely relaxed, 30 minute of the discussion was based around casual discussion, they wanted to ensure they could work with you for 10 hours inside an office environment.

Interviewed Sep 2008 in Toronto, ON (took 2 days)
As co-op students we had the opportunity to attend a couple of recruiting events held on and off campus. At these events we established connections and were then offered interviews via. our campus co-op service system. The interview process consisted of a pre-interview dinner and a 1:1 on interview with a partner. The interview was very informal. It was more like a chat than anything.

Interviewed Mar 2008 (took 2 days)
Had my first interview for interning at KPMG. On the day of the interview I discovered that I had failed the test on two of the three points. However, I managed to pass on to the second round. For me this was the first time that a company values the capabilities and qualifications of a person more than mundane IQ test results. Thumbs up KPMG! Hope that I will be able to pass the second round too....

Interviewed Nov 2009 (took 3 weeks)
Stage 1: Online Application.
Stage 2: Aptitute testing
This is a SHL type test assessing the candidate's verbal, numerical and diagrammatical reasoning skills.
It is done online, not at the employer's premises.
Stage 3: Whole day assessment centre
Kicked off with a briefing from HR. They are nice, warm and friendly.
First up, in-tray exercise - this is a simple case study testing your ability to extract the relevant details from a pile of information and your communication skills. You are required to sit at a computer and sort through a few emails to prepare a summary or value proposition for a client. This is a 20 minute task, I believe.
Next, two one-on-one interviews. I interviewed with a partner from international tax and a director from corporate tax. Behavioural questions, all focussing on KPMG core values. Although I found the interviewers somewhat intimidating at the start (given their titles), it is easy to build rapport with them as they are very approachable people.

Interviewed Oct 2009 in New York, NY (took 3 days)
My interview started at 9:00 am and did not end until 9:00pm, so it was a very lengthy process. However, the purpose of the interview was not only to question my qualifications, but to show many sides of the firm. In this way, the interviewees had a clearer idea of the corporate culture and different aspect of the organization.
