Interviewed Nov 2009 in New York, NY (took 2 days)
Starts on campus with an optional (but obviously beneficial) informal social the night prior to interviews the next day. Interview is with a member of the group being applied to. Pretty straightforward and meant to gauge interest and to see if you're a capable individual. Nothing too hard. Next you travel to the office you're applying to for a few firm orientation presentations followed by two interviews with more senior individuals of the group. Again, very straightforward interviews - focused mainly on my previous internships and leadership on campus. Actually, I'm surprised at how little I was challenged throughout the process.

Interviewed Mar 2008 in Chicago, IL (took 2 months)
I had a phone interview with the HR recruiter, then a phone interview with a manager in the practice I was interested in. I then had an onsite interview with three managers individually, followed by an interview with the partner. It took 4 hours in the Chicago office. The interviews were pretty straight forward - a few behavioral questions but mostly questions about direct work experience. I received an offer a few weeks later, then had two weeks to make a decision.

Negotiation Details
I attempted to negotiate through the internal recruiter (instead of the hiring manager) and I go not considerations. If I could do it differently, I would definitely contact the hiring manager or partner directly.

Interviewed Oct 2008 (took 2 days)
I first communicated with KPMG during recruitment activities they hosted at our school. At a career fair and on the school's recruiting website, I submitted my resume and applied for an interview. I was part of a group selected for the first round of interviews on campus. For the first interview we met one on one with a partner from the office we were applying for. The questions asked were based on experience and certain situations we had been in.
I was asked back for the second round of interviews, which were on location. The evening before the interview there was a dinner for the second round of interviewers and employees from our respected school. If we were coming from out of town, we had the option to stay at a hotel. The interview process the next day included information sessions about the company and different areas, a Q&A session with partners then recent interns, we went to lunch with the new hires and recent interns to further question them and get to know them, and we finally had 2 separate interviews with different partners than we had met with before. There we were asked more experience questions and why we wanted to work for the company, etc.

Interviewed Apr 2007 in New York, NY (took 2 days)
I got my interview through campus recruiting. The interview consisted of an initial one on one interview with a Manager and then a Senior Manager and then a second interview at the office (whole day, and if you get there, you likely will get an offer) I got a long with both of them very well. As such, the interview consisted mostly of me asking questions about accounting in general, KPMG as a firm, opportunities (international rotation etc), what I could expect at my first year at KPMG and so forth.
There was no tests or not any crazy technical questions. They did ask me to walk through my resume on a high level and asked me some very basic accounting questions. They also asked me about my expectations and some classic interview questions.
After this initial process, I got called back for a second interview which consisted of me visiting the office. My feeling was that I already had the offer in my hand. It was just a big presentation of the company, i.e. 5 min round table discussion with a partner or a senior manager. Then we had some group exercises but that mostly games for fun. In general, if you get to the day at the office, congrats, you're in!

Interviewed Jun 2008 (took a day)
After submitting my online application, I got a phone call from the HR department. We agreed on an interview the next week. The interview mainly consisted of small talk, there was no such thing as a case study or elaborate questions on my professional background. I got the offer for an internship right after the interview.

Interviewed Oct 2009 in Seattle, WA (took 2 months)
I was chosen to participate in their summer leadership program in the summer after my sophomore year. In the following fall, I applied for on campus interviews and was selected. I was interviewed by a Senior Audit Manager and attended a pre-interview social. I was then chosen to move on to second round interviews. KPMG is different than the other Big 4 members since they do their second round interviews on campus. A partner came to interview me on campus. The interview was very laid back. All they wanted to know was if you would be a good fit in their office. They are not looking for super smart accountants, just people with personalities and that they wouldn't mind being around every day. A few weeks after my second round interview I received an offer.

Interviewed Nov 2009 in New York, NY (took 3 weeks)
The interview process was very laid back and relaxed. I interviewed with a senior manager first on my college's campus, and it consisted mostly of behavioral questions. Found out the next day that I was advancing to the next round, which consisted of a 'superday' where I met and networked with partners, etc. Some additional interviews, offered a position later that day.

Interviewed Oct 2008 (took 2 days)
Traveled to company for 2 days. Interviewed with 3-4 other IT Managers. Asked questions regarding general IT experience and what I did in past classes. I do not remember being asked too many arbitrary situational based questions. They treat the interviews as how potential employees would interact with clients, so if you tank the interview, they assume you'll do the same when talking with a client for the first time.

Interviewed Dec 2008 (took a day)
Internal transfer. Initial chat with the Partner, who gave me an 1:1 interview. Interview was quite straightforward, just a few behaviourial questions and past projects i'd worked on. Overall a easy interview and it was more about building a rapport with the Partner and them getting to know bit more about you.
