Interviewed Nov 2011 (took a day)
I applied on the college career center website. And then, you get an invitation to pre-interview night before the day before the interview date. After that, 1st round interview -> 2nd round interview (superday)
THe pre interview night is pretty fun.
the interview is mostly behavioral questions. They asked about team work and classes.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took a day)
I applied through campus recruiting. Filled out application online and received notice of an interview request from them through my school's career website. After scheduling my interview I received an invitation to a Pre-Interview Event. The event was business casual and I got to meet my interviewer along with other KPMG employees; snacks and refreshments were provided.
The interview process is a typical HR round. They asked questions about my resume, work experience, education and such. Also there were two behavioral questions about team experience. Very basic stuff.

Interviewed Jan 2012 (took 5 weeks)
Initial approach was through Linkedin, followed by submission of my CV which also provides access to my Linkedin profile. This was followed by an introductory meeting with the hiring manager plus subsequent introductions to two senior partners - one of which by phone.
Overall, the process was very positive especially as the hiring manager continued to be open for additional queries - whether content-related or questions about package and work environment. The firm wouldn't have put in this effort if it weren't sincerely interested, but I thoroughly appreciate what lengths each individual went through.

Reason for Declining
Over time, the focus of the proposed position seemed to change and vary depending whom I spoke with. Similarly, The key driver for hiring appeared to be to replace someone quickly to -I can only assume- address client concerns.
Unfortunately, this did not prove an appropriate level of confidence as to what challenges I would be facing.
Other Details
I got the interview through an Employee Referral and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview and a 1:1 Interview.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Sacramento, CA (took 4+ weeks)
"KPMG Pulled a Bait n Switch"
I was contacted by the recruiter who found my resume online. After the preliminary interview over the phone, i was recommended to interview with a Senior Manager over the phone. The timeline between first contact with the recruiter and the phone interview with Sr. Manager is about 15 days.
Following the phone interview i was asked to come in for a face to face interview with 2 Sr. Managers and 2 Partners at the local office. The interviews were scheduled for half an hour each.
After the interviews, the following day the recruiter called me to say right now they would like to keep the door open for me, as the projects they are bidding on might not start for the next couple of months, BUT,"In the meantime if i would like to Join them at an Associate level position with a salary cap of 60K".
Just a background, the recruiter already discussed the salary for the Sr. Associate level position at 100K+, i have over 6 years of experience and i hold two graduate degrees.
This BAIT N SWITCH displays the lacks of integrity and morals in my opinion, and not only that, an attempt to be disrespectful to the interviewing candidates.
KPMG expects people to work 50-60 hours a weeks, they will bill their clients anywhere between $80-$120/hr and are offering less than $25/hr is shear disgust.

Interviewed Sep 2011 (took 4+ weeks)
Participated in on campus recruiting and secured an interview. Two rounds, one on campus, another at the office, two interviews per round. The partner interviews were a little tough but if you make it that far, it seems they are a little more lenient with acceptable answers. All the big four firms have multiple meet and greet events, definitely attend all. If nothing else, it will let you get a feel for the office culture.
