KPMG Engagement & Billing Solution Architect Interview

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Woodcliff Lake, NJ Dec 2012 – Reviewed Jan 23, 2013

Interview Details – Interviewed with KPMG global IBS project mostly with leadership mostly at director level. To start with KPMG was very unprofessional. 4 out of 6 interviers were late, two did not show up and one was added at the end of day.
My personal feeling having been in corporate world, except one director all others were like junior project managers or team leads. Title of DIRECTOR led me to believe these are individuals in executive roles but their duties involved active hands-on implementation, project management, etc.

Some of the interviews ran 15-20 minutes longer and what was planned to be 3 hours ended up as a 5 hour day.

Interview Question – Are you married and how old are your kids ?
Though may be appropriate to ask otherwise I was surprised that this was asked during interview.
  Answer Question

Reason for Declining – I felt KPMG IBS project leadership is weak and the overall project seemed to have a lot of political interference. Since I am a seasoned leader I felt over qualified to work in a workplace with poor discipline and integrity. At a point I was wondering "Am i really in the work place of a big 4 firm or some third country outsourcing IT company office ?"

Other Details - I applied through a staffing agency and the process took 5+ weeks.
