I received a cold call from the HR representative while interviewing for a new position. He explained a couple positions they needed to fill and described them in general detail. He was very friendly and accomodating to my schedule to setup an interview time and sent an application package. I came in for an interview with the global director and it was a very pleasant experience. He explained the company profile and future direction with details of the supplier business and the target customer base to start. After explaining the positions he allowed me to reflect on my experiences and abilities as well as which one would be a better fit for me. The interview lasted roughly an hour and I was thanked and escorted out by the HR rep. I sent a follow up email thanking them for the opportunity and looked forward to hearing from them. After 2 weeks of no response I assumed there was no interest so I moved on through other interviews, and accepted an offer at another company as a contractor. Then on my first day at this position I receive a call back fom the HR rep informing me they wanted to extend an offer nearly 5 weeks later?? After some negotiating I decided the direct position at Key was a better fit and accepted the offer. I quit the other job the next day. Lesson is never assume it is over after an interview, you never know when your card will be pulled.
