I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Kinder Morgan Energy Partners in January 2013.
Interview Details – Went through an initial phone screening (typical resume-based questions) before coming in for an office interview with potential supervisor and additional staff member. Interview consisted of ten questions with generic interview questions (greatest strength, weakness, challenges). Also asked what I thought of environmental regulations and if I disagreed with any. A lot of ethical based questions and questions related to difficult clients. Second interview was with Compliance VP and potential supervisor. Another 10 questions. These were more difficult and had to do with interactions with team members, more ethical questions, examples of difficult interactions with clients. See examples interview questions below. I definitely left the interview feeling blind sided and didn't expect a call back. Big learning opportunity though!

The process took 2 months - interviewed at Kinder Morgan Energy Partners in October 2011.
Interview Details – I was interviewed by two engineers, a drilling engineer and the head recruiter. They were reasonably nice. Most of the interview questions were personal aptitude questions, and situation resolution questions. Almost nobody went to their information session; I would recommend doing so, it gives you one on one time with them.
Smile throughout the interview, do not be frantic. I did not think the interview went badly, but the drilling engineer began suppressing laughter at one of my responses. I knew that was where it all ended, I still don't know what I said. Ultimately, they picked another one of my classmates. Maybe it was for the best, although it was a very nice sounding company.
I think they took too long to get back to the candidates, even if they were not picked for internships. It took two months before I got word, it would have been nicer if the let-down had been more immediate.
I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at Kinder Morgan Energy Partners in October 2010.
Interview Details – I received a request to schedule an interview and I chose a time. That was my only contact with the company other than the interview. I was interviewed by two different people. One was an engineer, the other was an HR person. It was a standard behavioral interview. It appeared that they were really trying to determine how much I was interested in working in the field and if I would enjoy living in a small town. Many questions revolved around where I had lived and what those communities were like.

I applied through college or university and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Kinder Morgan Energy Partners in October 2009.
Interview Details – I applied online through my university professional development services, and received word that there would be an interview. The night before, they had an Information Session to give us an idea of what the company was like. We also met the company representatives (2) that would be interviewing us the next day.
On the day itself, I met the two people from the day before and the interview started. The initial conversation was nice because we had a common topic - yesterday. But after that, it wasn't much of a fun interview. They read off a question from their notebook, I answered it. No conversation.. The interviewers seemed more intent on writing down my answers than talking and looking at me. The lady also looked like she didn't want to be there. They asked all standard questions - teamwork, leadership, why engineering, why KM.
