Very Easy Interview
I applied through other source and the process took 3 days - interviewed at Kirby Corporation in September 2013.
Interview Details – I contacted and ad from Craigslist and received a call back after a few days. They don't need any experience, but take resumes when you go into interview. Interview was very rushed, very little information and the job is not explained well. They tell you your compensation, but do not mention you will be and independent contractor and if you do not meet their number of demonstrations required per a week you do not get paid. You also end up going all over the place and are not guaranteed you will meet your demonstration quota even though Kirby sets up the appointments for you.
Interview Question – Tell me about yourself. The questions weren't very difficult. View Answer
Reason for Declining – After researching the company I realized that it was not a good fit for me. There were also many, many bad review about the company. Most people only stay for a few weeks and don't receive the pay they were promised.
I applied through a recruiter and the process took 3 months - interviewed at Kirby Corporation in April 2008.
Interview Details – Very casual, one on one., cordial, process took a couple of months, the company seemed slow but after working there you realize everything the company does is in slow motion. Recruiter provided initial interviews and back ground check. Company interviews were casual with hiring manager, peer employee, and executive management
Interview Question – Why would you want to work here? View Answer
Negotiation Details – Company does not negotiate. Hiring methods are several decades old. Almost nothing is negotiable. The company is rooted in the oil industry and gears all policies toward blue collar employment. The interview process felt very operational and non technical. Management seemed very polite and attractive to work for.
Advice- Sell yourself and your value in initial interviews. Create a perspective in the mind of management that they need you and your assets will drive revenue and production for the company.
