The hiring process took nearly a month . The interview consisted of me interviewing first with the HR manager and then with the store manager. Questions about my availability and future goals were asked. I was also asked how I would react in certain situations and how I would interact with people.

Filled out an app online, and recieved an email from HR dept. saying an interview was scheduled for me the following week at 2:30 pm. I walked into the store and went to customer service. They were very rude to me. I told them I was there for an interview, and they kind of blew me off. Anyway, finally met with the woman in charge and the interview was very easy. She was very sweet, put me at ease. The only downside was that she didn't make Kmart sound like a "great place to work". She said "90 percent of all our customers that come in are unhappy". She also said the store was closing in January, so I would only have a job for a couple months. I think Kmart is going under as a company. Only offered min. wage but offered me the job right there. I declined. Overall, good interview though. Asked "was there a time you exceeded goals?", and "tell me a time when you were faced with a difficult situation and how you dealt with it". I was prepared so those were no prob. My advice, don't be nervous, it was pretty easy, but I wouldn't work for a company that is going under. You won't be employed there for long.

I applied online if you qualify after the skills test they will offer you interview days and times, If there are times avaliable you pick one. I went into the interview ten minutes early and when I got there, there were about five other girls waiting for an interview. This girl that went before me looked sad when she came out and got in the elevator. She was wearing jeans and a button down shirt very innapporiate for an interview and didnt get the job. When I got in I was asked simple situational questions and about my personal experience and was offered the job right there and sent to fill out my payment information in the next room.

first I took a phone interview with the manager, he asked me questions such as, why I wanted to work there, my previous experience, how I worked under pressure,etc. The two days I went in for an one one one interview with the manager and he asked me more questions.

I completed the online application, did a follow-up to the H.R. I got a call back saying I can come in for an interview. I went in and was asked a couple of basic questions and then was told to come back for another interview with the Manager. I came back for the interview with the manager and he asked a few questions, basically going over what was asked before, and then he told me if I pass the drug test that I got the job. Well I passed the drug test but it took FOREVER for them to call us into orientation [About a week and a half]. I almost took another job offer. But yeah after that, I had to take some LONG online OPT assessment then I was on training for the register for 3 days. That's it.

I applied online and after about 2 weeks, the Astor Place Kmart called me for an interview at 1:45PM the next day. I came to the store at 1:15pm and waited. I was interviewed at about 2:00pm.The interviewer asked about my availability, what were my hobbies, how would I deal with an angry customer?, what qualities did I have that would make Kmart better?,why did I choose K-Mart? He said that the store put a priority on customer service and that they were looking for someone punctual, energetic, and good with people. I told that I was all of those things and he said that he would give a chance. I was scheduled for a drug test that Friday at 9:00am. I'm am now waiting for Friday.

In the first inteview the HR lady aksed me a whole lot about sales. They only choose me because of my sales background, and offered me .50 cents more an hour to take the sales position although I applied as a cahier. My 2nd interview was the same as my first, except with a different person. He stressed sales alot too! Blah! then my 3rd interview was very quick, he just asked me about my availability, and that was all.

I was emailed with an interview date and time. I arrived 5min early and she was waiting. She asked lots of questions about my job history if I was going back to school and my availability. She asked me lots of experience questions like "What difficult situations have you been in and how did you overcome them." "Have you ever worked with someone who was very negative and how did you deal with it?" Overall there was lots of questions that were far to complex for a job at kmart. I was then asked to come in the next day for a second interview. The questions started over and they were basically the same as before but with a different person.

After I completed my online application, I was told to schedule an interview date. My interview with the manager was short and awkward. She was nice, but she looked mainly at her computer which made the whole interview uncomfortable. She asked me several questions (what brings you to Kmart? what college are you going to go to? how old are you? what special skills do you have?), and the interview stopped after she came across my hours that I am available. She told me that she needed someone who could work nights, and I told her I had to ask my parents. I called her an hour later, and I got the job. I had a background check and drug test done the following week and then I had to wait about 2 weeks before I actually started training. The manager will most likely tell you to keep calling, and I would advise you to do so because you might get forgotten amongst the many new hires that he/she has.
