I applied online and the process took 4 weeks - interviewed at Kraft Foods UK in June 2012.
Interview Details –
I had already been working in our Coffee R&D center as a student for a year.
When this offer was released on our Intranet, and then Internet, I felt this was my chance to kick my career off with a great opportunity to learn laboratory methods and get to meet people in the same field.
Being part of the company, I directly made it to the 1:1 interview which was held by two colleagues from different research centers. They showed much interest in the work I had done as a student for Kraft Foods, as well as other internships. Their interest made me feel comfortable and that was more of a personality assessment than a field-based hands-on recruitment.
I was contacted two weeks later for that position and was glad to accept, following the very interesting talks and comments we had on that day.
Negotiation Details –
My aim was not really to negotiate anything in terms of salary or insurance, because I trusted the recruitment standards as such. I still got a nice surprise when I looked at the final contract but didn't hope for it.
When considering an offer I always take good care of the keywords, because I don't want to apply to some job that would make me unhappy within months. The company's expectations being laid out on paper, I think it's important to consider the role and how well I would fit in.
