Interviewed Jan 2011 in London, England (United Kingdom) (took a day)
I submitted an online application, and received an invitation to a telephone interview with HR to discuss my CV. As I presumed this would just be based on previous work history, I didn't really prepare any answers based on specific L'Oreal brands, as I presumed that this would be covered if I progressed to a later interview (i.e. by a Marketing/Brand interviewer, not HR), but was asked Marketing specific questions, so I would definitely recommend to properly prepare as if you were expecting a full interview - really get to know the L'Oreal brands!

Interviewed Mar 2008 (took 2 days)
I've sent them my CV and some time later got a call to cheduele a phone interview. The first interview was with a HR representative and stressed on previous work expierences, educational background and my relationship with the company. The second interview was with a Product Manager and focused more on soft and problem solving skills. It defenatly helps to be passionate about the brand you're aiming to work for.

It consisted of presenting in front of the group (5-10 mins each), a study of a case everyone together (1 hour) and then one person presenting it (they observe you the whole time closely), and a 1:1 interview with a recruiter.

Interviewed Jun 2008 (took 2 months)
Submitted my CV and cover letter to HR following an ad posted in the chemistry department at my university. A week or so later I was contacted by an HR representative by email and asked if I could come for interviews 2 weeks later: a 1:1 interview with her and also a technical interview with a presentation with two lab managers. The topic of the presentation was free but it had to be technical.
For the interviews I researched the company, its organization, brands. I made sure I had practical examples to give with my answers about my character. For the presentation, I picked a technical subject I knew well and i thought would also be interesting for the managers. I also planned several questions for both interviews.
The HR interview was 1 hour with standard questions (strengths and weaknesses...). I was also asked about the company (brands, products) and if i would consider working in other areas in the company. Overall the discussion with the lab managers was very informative as they took the time to explain how their department worked.
I heard back from HR about a month later to say the project had been canceled. They said they would keep me in their shortlist for future projects. I got a call 5 months later and was offered the position without having to go through th hiring process again.

Interviewed Jul 2010 in Hong Kong (Hong Kong) (took 3 weeks)
First interview was with the HR personnel to get to know a bit about your background, experiences, and qualifications.
Second Interview was with a Product Manager and also Director to determine your relative fit for the position. Director wants to know about your experiences and what you can bring to the company. Also, they are looking for highly creative individuals to join their team. Product Manager looks at your abilities to think on the spot. They give you graphs and tables to look at and evaluate your on the spot analytical abilities.
The people are L'Oreal are pretty nice, but it seems that the team here in Hong Kong is relatively small and there are few opportunities for promotion to senior level management.

Interviewed Jan 2008 in Paris (France) (took 4 weeks)
Although I was headhuntet for a position (rare for a company that normaly hires from own ranks) I had to go through 5 interviews and to personally tests.
First interview was a classic, tell us about you, strenghts and weaknesses, why did you change jobs...etc.
Second one, the game was stepped up and so forth until fifth interview.
By the time I was through, I had justified in depth knowledge of P&L accounts analysis, defending an imaginary marketing plan with a +25% spending vs today, shown my knowledge of the market in cross-check questions. Real tough panel discussion in the end.

Interviewed Dec 2009 (took 3 months)
I applied via the university, had a phone interview with HR, and had several 1:1 interviews with senior managers. Was asked several questions about my opinion re. the products, so be informed about their brands and marketing efforts. It will also help to fully understand why you want to apply to a beauty company.

Interviewed Jan 2010 (took a day)
One interview with HR Manager. They were looking someone with less skills, not postgraduate study as me. She asked questions about my projects, my assignments in university, what I want to do from now on, if I want to stay in front of a PC Screen and analyze data every day... if I have any preferences concerning work hours, etc.

Interviewed Jun 2010 (took 2 weeks)
After participation in Brandstorm business game got an offer from HR to pass interview. 1-st step: interview with HR director, 2-nd: with marketing director of a brand.
Rather simple interview questions. The hardest part - product description: you are given a product from brand product line, and asked to tell for whom it is, how much it can cost, compare it with the other one. If you know on what brand will be the interview based look through the product line to be prepared.
