Co-Op Student at Landis+Gyr

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Lafayette, IN Apr 2008 – Reviewed Oct 22, 2009

Interview Details – I just applied to the company via a school website and I was called in for an on-site interview.

The interview process consisted of first talking to the HR representative of the company. She asked me a few behavioral questions and talked to me about the company and what I would be expected to do. After her, two department heads (Engineering and Marketing) came in and had a chat with me about what interests me, hobbies, school coursework, etc. They also asked me some behavioral questions geared towards conflict management and handling people.

Just be open with them, be honest and dont try too hard. It was a very relaxed interview and I felt very comfortable during. They dont grill you, and you get the sense that they want you to work there too.

Interview Question – Give an example of how you used your engineering thought process to solve a problem you didnt know how to solve right away?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I took their first offer because there was no room to negotiate, they had a SET co-op student position salary with a SET raise.

Senior QA Engineer at Landis+Gyr

No Offer – Interviewed in Aug 2011 – Reviewed Sep 7, 2011

Interview Details – Process began with a phone interview. Hiring manager asked some technical question with regards to test process, test planning, career goals, SQL, and Systems Management. Phone interview led to an on-site intervew. The On-site interview was a 5-hour affair where I met with the hiring manager, other QA leads, the SQA Director, and the Development director. Most of the questions were either test process questions, what-if test planning and test execution scenarios, and SQL queries on small schemas. Some of the questions were asked by multiple interviewers. I was impressed with their people, who all seemed to be very smart. Their product line is also very intersting as it invovlved hardware, software, databases, wireless communication, networking, and network storage. They are also solve a very real problem with their product lines. Overall I was very impressed with the company and would've probably acceped an offer had it been extended.
