Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Jan 2012 – Reviewed Feb 14, 2012
Interview Details –
Initial web based presentation outlining the position, skills, and compensation. Then an initial interview with a recruiter who offers a practice test on the basic interpreting skills. A second formal test with a job offer extended (subject to background check) upon successfully passing the test. The web presentation is very useful to potential recruits in determining whether they should continue with the job application process. Once documentation is cleared, paid training takes about 4-5 days and is scheduled with a "batch" of other applicants..
The first part of training is a lengthy set of training modules outlining how the interpretation process works, the skills required, company policies, laws and regulations as we as ethics. This is followed by a two day instructor-led session that emphasizes review of company Guidelines and practical interpretation roleplay exercises.
Interview Question – The emphasis placed in the interview is whether you fully understand the position offered, and have the basic ability as measured by the practice and formal test. View Answer
Negotiation Details – There is no room for negotiation. Salary is pre-determined based on area applied for (Puerto Rico $7.50, other states based on the state minimum wage + per minute bonus after the first half hour).
Other Details - I applied online and the process took 2 days.
