Interviewed Jan 2011 (took 5 days)
Very fast process, one-on-one interview with store General Manager, then lab manager, then managing doctor, then panel interview with district manager and district managing doctor. First interview maybe an hour, more of a get-to-know you. Then very in depth interview with district managers, about 3 hours. All about motivating teams, your management style, coaching/development, interviewing/selecting, etc. Basic managing competencies.

Interviewed Aug 2011 in Saint Petersburg, FL (took 5 days)
Went on four 1:1 interviews. Did a online test that took an hour. Did a drug test. Was basically told I had the job and would start in a week. Then never heard from them again. I called & no one bothered to return my call. I feel like I turned down A LOT of other potential interviews that I could have put in the time slots of these waste of time interviews. I also was made to drive to a specific lab that their company wanted the drug test from. It was 40 minutes away from where I live, in the same town. Not even close to their store either. It was on the opposite end of the city. I was then told to call them when I get drug test done. I did that. And came in for my 3rd interview. Then I received a call the next day to come in to be interviewed by the actual doctor. I was scheduled for the next morning. The morning I received a call saying they need to reschedule for afternoon. So I am already dressed for interview. And they reschedule on me. Then I finally go to fourth interview. It lasted 5 minutes with the doctor stating that he liked me, that I was qualified, and that they would call to let me know when I can start. I was never contacted again.

Interviewed Apr 2009 (took 4 days)
You will interview with a few GMs and then a doctor, then a regional manager if you pass the first few interviews. Then a background check is done and a drug test then you get an offer. You also take a managerial test so they can asses you. Track record and references are important. Be confident and be yourself.

Interviewed Feb 2011 in Sacramento, CA (took 4 weeks)
I applied online and went to the store personality to give them my application. I was given an interview that day. The General manager emphasized that Lens crafters is a high pressure commission based company. He asked me questions about how I would work to meet sales goal etc.. He asked me to take a personality test at home online. I took the test that night and waited a week w/o any response. I called into the store to see if the GM had received my results. He told me he hadn’t checked but would get back to me soon. Another four days went by before he called for a second interview. I waited an hour while he interviewed two other people. He had accidentally double scheduled interviews. When I got into his office he still hadn’t checked my test results! He called in to see if I passed right in front of me! I then went through another “interview” he didn’t ask me any more questions about the position, just small talked then asked me take a drug test. I started work a few days later. This company is horrible to work for. The staff is focused on $ not customer relationship. I believe its more important to make a lasting relationship that will lead to higher sales over time than one large sale, where the customer experiences severe buyers remorse. I’ve never had any problems meeting sales goals and I can easily sell almost any product, but never would I pressure someone into a purchase they truly didn’t want to make. Lens crafters has terrible customer reviews for a reason!

Interviewed Dec 2010 (took 2 days)
I applied for this position in response to a Craig's List ad. 2 months later I received a phone call asking if I was still avaiable and interested in the position. I was invited to an interview to be held in 3 days at the Mall where the store is located. Upon arriving, I had to wait 15 minutes as the Manager, a Reg. Manager and another store Manager from out of town were still interviewing someone else. We went to the food court and sat at a dirty table while we made introductions. The Regional Mgr. didn't show up until about 15 minutes later and started asking the same questions that had already been asked. I felt like I was the last interview of the day and not really being considered. This was confirmed when I received a voice mail the next day from the Store Manager telling me that they were going to pursue another candidate.

Interviewed Aug 2010 (took 5 weeks)
I obtained my initial interview through a recruiting agency. The first interview consisted of about 1/2 hour with two managers in the room. The interview was a bit rushed, they seem to have a lot of people scheduled for the same day and I did not have a chance to ask many questions. The interviewers were courteous and the questions were job specific and focused on: 1) customer service philosophy, 2) situational (describe a situation when you had an angry customer and how you dealt with it, 3) supervisory skills and management style (how do you go about assessing employees skills and what would you do if you had to move them to a different position).
I was disappointed that they had no job description for me to have a better idea and expectations on what job duties the job entailed, my recruiter did not have one either. I was then set up to complete an online assessment consisting of a math skills section (word problems, math/ sales oriented calculations such as percentages, profit margins etc..) and a general / personality test section geared towards assessing your customer service skills and general work ethic. The math part was challenging to me because each question was timed individually as opposed to the entire section being timed so if I finished one question in a few seconds, I could not apply my extra time to a more laborious question that required extra calculation - I found that a bit unfair. Passing the test was a requirement for management positions. I did pass. About two weeks later, I was set up for a second interview with 2 other managers. This second one was more relaxed and longer so I had the chance to find out more about the job itself. I then learned that the position required completing a certification to become an optician which on average takes about 3 years (working full time, and going for the education on a part-time basis). About another week later, I was invited for a third interview.

Reason for Declining
The company seemed very good to work for and it seemed like a good career opportunity but I wasn't committed to becoming an optician in the long run and that is something that seemed pretty crucial to anyone's success in this career path, so I declined.
