Personal Care Assistant at Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in New Oxford, PA Nov 2011 – Reviewed Oct 29, 2012

Interview Details – I initially applied through their website electronically. I was then called on the phone for a face to face interview. My initial impression of her was great. She was very relaxed, outgoing and friendly. I liked her style a lot. I was given details of the job during that interview. The culture of special education appealed to me greatly. The job culture was an adjustment from mainstreamed students but the teacher was really good and I adapted quickly. I was offered the position a couple of weeks later.

Interview Question – The most difficult question was relating to parents of special needs children and how to communicate with them effectively. This was difficult without sounding the I was answering as if I were an ideal or perfect world because we all know that it is not.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – I negotiated the pay allowed me more money since I had a college degree to back up the extra money.
