Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took a dayinterviewed at Linedata in June 2014.

Interview

A staffing agency contacted me asking if I was interested in this position, so they established the initial communication with HR and set me up with an interview. I arrived at the building at their Boston location and checked in at the bottom floor before proceeding to the Linedata suite on one of the upper floors where I met with the development manager.

I had one interview. We discussed my work history along with my current role and then transitioned into general questions on different technologies and architecture. I was then brought to a whiteboard and was asked to write algorithms for two separate problems.

My overall impression of the company was good. The office was very professional looking with low cubicles and was fairly quiet. Also, while I was in the elevator I was warmly greeted by another Linedata employee from a different department.

Interview Questions

  • The most difficult part of the interview was the technical part where I was asked to write an algorithm to reverse an array and then write another to find a missing number in a series of numbers. The questions were not terribly difficult but were definitely the most difficult questions of the interview.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Linedata (Boston, MA).

    Interview

Phone screen interview. Besides the general questions about my resume there were two other questions. Note: these are the typical questions that degree centered interviewers ask. The point is to see how you think but here it is just the challenge to see how smart you are.

It seems more competitive than collaborative. I did not like the "tone" of the interview.

    Interview Questions

    • Write (pseudo-code) and function to reverse a string   1 Answer
    • Given a large array where the next item of the array is 2 more than its predecessor (example: 5,7,9,11,13,15 . . . ) write a function to locate the position in the array where the difference is not 2.   1 Answer
    • Write a function that returns a string that is the sum of two integers represented by strings. The point is that the numbers represented by string would be larger than an int can hold. Example: string Sum(string valueOne, string valueTwo) { . . .}   Answer Question

    Interview

I went through A&A search for this job and got an interview right away. On the outside the company looks very formal but it turned out to be a very casual environment. The interviewers were very polite (at least one of them were) and friendly.

    Interview Questions

    • Given an array which contains a string, lets say "COMMUNITY", write a program in C/C++ that will print the letters of the string in reverse.   1 Answer
