Interviewed Jan 2011 (took 2 weeks)
Initial phone interview with a recruiter. I had to come up with different ideas for events. After that, had a more thorough phone interview with 2 members of management. The final stage of the interview consisted of flying to DC for an all-day "Super Session," which consisted of a panel interview, group interview and one on one.

Interviewed Aug 2011 (took 2 days)
Despite lots of negative word-of-mouth around town and not-so-positive reviews on here, I still really felt like I was the perfect match for this position and am disappointed I didn't make the cut. I was prepared for my phone interview and am normally great on the phone (but much better in person) For me the kiss of death was that I'd just filled my mind with all of the negatives about working for Living Social and with all of that running through my mind, I found myself not really engaging in the call as well as I normally would. My advice - don't talk to other employees or review this site within 24 hours of your interview. I completely psyched myself out and convinced myself I didn't want it when I actually DO!
Besides that, the interview followed the same procedure as all others. Very friendly but semi-unresponsive, same line of questioning... The pay was mentioned upfront as 45K plus bonuses.
If another opportunity pops up, I won't make the same mistake. While it seems they certainly have some internal kinks to work out, I feel like everyone has the power to make the best of their job experience. Oh well...

Interviewed Aug 2011 (took 1 week)
After applying online for a city manager position, was contacted within 24 hours by what appeared to be a recruiter working for LivingSocial to line up a phone interview. Upon confirming, I was sent a bridge ilne to dial into. The call was roughly 30 minutes, was recorded, and beyond sharing my basic background, I was asked questions like: what was the craziest thing you've ever done? what was the scariest thing you've ever done? what trip ideas would you arrange for LivingSocial if you worked for the company? Overall, I felt the person I interviewed with was very junior and wasn't really interested in any of the information I provided them. I basically got a lot of "uh huhs" and "that's great" after everything I said. As a young and hip company, I can understand why they attract such young talent, but think they should make more of an effort to hire more seasoned employees to conduct interviews. It gives the impression that the company is inexperienced and disorganized. After the call, I was told I'd hear back within 1 week if they wanted to continue the process. I received an email exactly 1 week later thanking me but letting me know I didn't fit their needs at this time. I had already decided I didn't want to work for the company based on the impression I received during the interview, so it was a win-win for everyone.

Interviewed Aug 2011 (took 2 weeks)
The initial contact was made by an HR rep who conducted a short (20 minute) phone interview. This first interview was really a very basic screening interview to make sure you aren't crazy. I received an email shortly after this asking me to schedule a second, slightly more detailed phone interview. In the second phone interview they described the position, the salary (45k+ bonuses), and the type of work expected from you. The second interview had you describe yourself outside of work, to see if you fit into the company culture, as well as talk about your professional history.
The next stage was an in person interview, this particular one took place in New York, air transportation and car service were provided, meals were not. My plane was delayed for several hours and I ended up being 2 hours late. I showed up at the same time as another interviewee, so I was asked to wait in a small conference room for roughly 30 minutes. During this time I observed some employees going about their day. One spent about 10 minutes bouncing a soccer ball on their knee commenting: "Since I got this job, I've gotten really good at doing this." Another employee returned from a department store run and held a mini fashion show in the office.
I was finally taken into an office for my presentation about planning an "urban adventure" followed by a Q&A and some role playing. Fairly basic stuff, easy for polished sales people. They then asked some "company culture" questions to see if you 'fit' in with the group. I was emailed several days later with the "Thanks for playing" email. I was honestly pretty relieved, while I am in the same age demographic as everyone else in that office (all under 30), I like to take my work a bit more seriously than bouncing a ball around all day.

Interviewed Feb 2011 (took 1+ week)
I had a great experience during the interview process. I was called after applying online and spoke to someone from HR about my background. This call took about 15 minutes. I was then told I would move on to a second phone interview. She prepped me saying to expect some odd questions and answer them as best as possible and to also come up with some events to plan. The second interview was with two guys, and it was very fun. It was like talking to my friends. I was told I’d hear back in the next week and got an email that night saying they’d like to do an in person interview. So throughout the next week they sent me a few emails on what to expect, travel plans, etc. I felt very prepared and was excited. They did pay for the flight, hotel, and ground transportation, so that was nice. The day of my interview I congregated in a hallway with about 23 others interviewing for the various cities. It felt sort of American Idol-ish. We were put into groups and told to come up with an experience concept. We presented it in front of a panel of four and we were all asked two questions each, I think, about our event. This was a lot of fun, I was laughing when I left the room. I then had a 15 minute one-on-one. This was basically getting to know the personal and professional me. It was very casual, we were sitting on chairs in the hallway. Directly after this interview I had my “pitch” interview with two guys. I think it went over well. I had a unique idea and I was on my way after a few questions, this took about 15 or 20 minutes. I then had some time to kill in my room until lunch. We all ate lunch together and that’s when they called either requesting a fourth interview or not. I went on the fourth interview and that was the most intense. I left with a bad answer to “Tell me a sentence to write about you so I can remember you later”. Well my sentence was horrible, but really everything is so on the spot, that I’m sure a lot of people’s sentences were bad. Overall, I had a great time. After everything was over, there was a lot of discussion among us interviewers about why some had the last interview and some didn’t- but who knows what it means. If they call me offering me a job, I would gladly take it.
