I applied online. The process took 4 weeksinterviewed at Lowe's in June 2014.

Interview Details

I applied online and got called 2ish weeks later. I had two interviews one with the HR manager and one with the Assistant manager. Both were pretty basic interview questions: tell me a time about this, explain a problem customer and how you dealt with them, tell me a time you were alone and leading a team, tasking and customer balance experience, etc. They offered me the position that day and I took the drug test and consented to the background check. I got called a little more than a week later with the results. (It took longer for me to get my results because the HR manager was going on vacation) Overall it was a great and fluid interview process!

Interview Questions
  • Explain a time when you told someone else wrong information regarding policy or any other work related expectations, but you did not realize you were wrong until later. How did you handle it, what did you do?   Answer Question

The whole process is a waste of time. If they like you you're in. If they don't like you, you're out. They will promote from within if you're a brown nose

They do a standardized interview with general questions. Generally there are multiple people who do interviews in sections. They are all "give me a time when..." questions and you can pretty much make something up for every question.

    Interview Questions
    • As I've stated before it was all asking to give a time when something happened and how you responded. One example could be "Give me a time when you went out of your way to help a customer."   Answer Question

There was no negotiating. Pay is calculated from experience. The HR will input your years of experience in the computer and it will give you the recommended pay. There is really no wavering from what the computer says.

Interviewed with human resources manager on Thursday and at the end of the interview was invited to speak to the store manager on Tuesday. They said they wanted to make a decision by Wednesday. You are asked to read the job description during the first interview and then the HR manager covers job basics like required to work holidays, weekends, etc. After the obligatory disclosures you are asked 5-7 questions.

    Interview Questions
    • Tell me about a time you went above and beyond for a customer.   Answer Question
    • Tell me about a time that you had a task that you were interrupted during.   Answer Question

    I applied in-person – interviewed at Lowe's.

For this job, they want to hear all about your customer service. They want to hear about what problems has happened in your past, and how you handle them. They want to know how you deal with communication with customers, whether it be someone who doesn't know English or if it is someone who doesn't know how to do a project and need some guidance. They want very SPECIFIC answers to these questions. Not generalizations.

    Interview Questions
    • Name a time when you were told to do something, and you did it wrong. ( I find this question difficult because you don't expect to go into an interview and tell them about all the things that you do/or have done wrong at other jobs. But what they really want is how you handled hardship and what you learned from the experience.   Answer Question

Like many other have already posted it asks very many redundant questions like "Describe a time when you ...and what was the outcome." I felt like the store manager already had the new candidate in mind when they interviewed me so I got the sense of being rushed and not being wanted to be interviewed which made me feel very uneasy. The also did not give me the courtesy of telling me that I was going to be interviewed that day so I was not in proper attire. When I know that they always let in store candidates know their date of interview.
