Design Interview

Design
Charlotte, NC

I applied online and the process took 4 weeks - interviewed at Lowe's in July 2009.

Interview Details – Initial phone interview to determine if I should fly out for face-to-face presentation. Was asked to visit facilities and interview. Put together a full-blown presentation and was interviewed by a panel of 7 execs. Did not hear anything for 2 weeks. When I placed a phone call to inquire about the position, I did not get a phone call back, but I did receive a rejection via email. A LOT of work for a simple email.

Sales Specialist Interview

Sales Specialist
Edinburg, TX

The process took a day - interviewed at Lowe's in April 2010.

Interview Details – Well to be honest i was disappointed in the hr clerk. I was just about to start my interview when she decided to get on a conference call for a meeting I guess she was supposed to be a part of. So the whole time during the interview i was trying to conentrate and answer the questions while at the same time listening to HR issues throughout the company. It was totally unprofessional. On top of that you would think HR being the first contact for a new applicant would have a better attitude and be open. Not this lady. :(

The process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Lowe's in April 2008.

Interview Details – Interviewed by HR then called back to be interviewed by sales manager then called back to be interviewed by store manager and HR manager a third time. Waited a week and did not hear from anyone then called HR manager and said store manager would call. Never did then Icalled back the next week and store manger asked me to call him back after he spoke to district manager. Called back a few days later and store manager made offer over the phone and told me to think about it and call him. I called back again and was finally offered a position on a probationary period where if I did not work out they would let me go after 90 days. Ridiculous 3 week ordeal to get a job at Lowes. You have thought one was applying to the FBI. Background checks, drug test the works!

Store Manager Interview

Store Manager
Toledo, OH

I applied online and the process took 2 months - interviewed at Lowe's in February 2009.

Interview Details – Applied on line took about a month to get a interview over phone. Interviewed after that with DM. Then had to interview with the stroe HR and store manager, and in that point had to take a assessment. Passed the assessment. I was set up to store manager assessment at the regional office. This was a whole day assessment. It took three weeks to hear from the HR manager to make me a offer. This process took forever and not worth it

Sales Associate Interview

Sales Associate
Madison, AL

The process took a day - interviewed at Lowe's in June 2011.

Interview Details – To get an interview took a long time. Everything from the time you apply is automated so to call and express your interest in the position is almost useless. But i did, i even went after the managers at the store i was interested in an finally was able to speak with the hiring manger. the interview wasn't even an interview, by the time the whole process was over they had filled all the positions they needed. Basically they told me that the computer system returns a list of qualified candidates, and then the hiring manger only has to pick three for each position to interview and it's such a basic position that she just chooses randomly who to interview.
The best way to get the job: (from her own words) apply to many stores, over and over. AS long as you are qualified, eventually your name will make it onto that list of three. and you'll be interviewed.

Interview Question – When did you apply to the store?   Answer Question

Regional Human Resources Manager Interview

Regional Human Resources Manager

I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at Lowe's in November 2011.

Interview Details – I was under the impression that I could prepare myself for the behavioral interview, and was sadly mistaken. I walked into the interview with an enourmous about of confidence and walked out feeling like a the gum on the bottom on their shoe. The questions were essay based, no prior review or knowlege given at all.

Distribution Management Trainee Interview

Distribution Management Trainee
Pittston, PA

The process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Lowe's in May 2010.

Interview Details – I was interviewed for a Distribution Management Trainee for Lowe's. They brought me in for an interview after an initial phone interview. It consisted of four managers asking me behavioral based questions for the first half hour. After that was complete, I took a tour of the facility and then took a personality test. After completing the personality test, I was interviewed again. The second interview was one on one. During, the second interview, one of the initial managers that interviewed me and told me that I had failed the personality test and they would continue looking at me as a candidate.

Facility Service Associate Interview

Facility Service Associate
Saint Joseph, MO

The process took a day - interviewed at Lowe's in June 2012.

Interview Details – First you apply for the position your wanting online and because I worked in the store of course everyone knows that store employees have first call. Then I had 3 interviews, 1 with the HR manager, 1 with a lead supervisor, and 1 with the store manager. They like when you look them in the eyes, and make sure you don't say i dont know to a question. The hiring squad is intimidating. But also make sure you dont act like you know more than they do, or you wont get it.

Negotiation Details – i was not able to negotiate. Lowe's has a set amount of what each person can make in a job title so even if you think that the job your wanting is a tougher job than your previous, it all comes down to what level that job your wanting is at. Such as for instance, like me I want to be a Full time Facility Service associate and it rates at a level 3 well my current position at the time was a lead stocker position which rated at a 4. Even though the FSA position is a much tougher position with the responsibilities and such it doesnt matter the Lead Stocker position is a higher pay grade. So therefor i would have taken a cut in pay.

Project Specialist Exteriors Interview

Project Specialist Exteriors
Palm Bay, FL

I applied through other source and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Lowe's in October 2011.

Interview Details – I was an internal applicant for this position. Still the interview process was almost 3 hours with 2 store managers and an HR manager. Need to consider going over in great detail whatever selling skills you have. I don't think the process is 3 hours anymore, but best prepare to answer questions about hypothetical customer interactions.

Interview Question – As with most interviews, "what do you think is your greatest weakness?"   View Answer

Negotiation Details – The offer was made a few weeks after the interview. As I was an internal applicant, they told me how much I'd make, when I would start, Etc. Take it or leave it.

Unloader Associate Interview

Unloader Associate
Fort Myers, FL

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Lowe's in March 2014.

Interview Details – Applied online, went in person to see store manager, got a phone call from HR person. Went in next day for interview with HR person and ASM. Got rejection email about 2 days later.

Rather an unfair method to screen potential candidates. Company should use experience to screen out unqualified applicants rather than responses to interview questions.

Interview Question – If you had a confrontation with an associate, what was it and how was the outcome?

What have you done to go out of your way to provide optimal customer service?
