Interviewed Dec 2010 (took a day)
I was called in to interview for a new store that was opening in our community. I met with the HR person first, then I was passed to the Department Mgr and last the store Mgr. i heard later that if I met the Store mgr that i was hired. I was offered a position and have been there ever since. Lowe's is serious when you interview for a position. It was like an interview I have had with major corporations. It is not like getting a job at a department store.

Negotiation Details
I am not very good at negotiating my pay as I have come to find out. I found out if you do not put every little place you work on your application your pay offer will be lower than others. I found out (recently) I am making the lowest pay in the department and the person making the most always calls in sick or doesnt work.
Other Details
I Applied Online and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview.

Interviewed Apr 2012 in Murrieta, CA (took 2 weeks)
Process took 14 days altogether. First interview was 5 questions related to job experiences. Second was 'what if' scenarios. And then lastly, a "why do you want to work here" that caught me off guard a bit

Interviewed Mar 2012 (took 2 weeks)
Got a phone call and was invited to schedule an interview with an Assistant Manager and the HR Manager. Met with the AM on a Saturday, the HR Manager on Monday. They mostly asked questions about work history and what I would do in specific situations. They also asked about my history and interest in the specific department I was applying for (no history, but interest, and despite this, they brought me in). I received a phone call Friday confirming that they wanted to pursue me further. She put in for a background check (that took nearly a week). Once it came back though, I went in an hour later to take my drug test. Overall, very happy with the process. Everyone seemed helpful and friendly, and the HR manager in particular seems to really get along well with all the employees I've seen her interact with and though I haven't known her long, she seems to care about me.

Negotiation Details
There was a questionnaire to fill out in regards to your pay. The more retail background you have, customer service background (specifically if you've worked at other big-box home improvement stores), and the more you've been in more "pressured" sales positions (aka, opening credit cards, etc.) the more they will offer you. After she read me my offer, she asked if it sounded okay, which I'm assuming meant that I could negotiate a little, but I was more than satisfied with the offer.

first you talk to human resources manager and they go thru a list of questions. If you pass that section, you have an interview with the store manager who ask you even more questions. Then they say they will call you if they are interested. Within 2 days they called back with a job offer

Once I applied online. I got a phone call to come in for an interview. I sat 1:1 with an assistant store manager. I would suggest being charismatic and be truthful.

Interviewed Jul 2011 (took a day)
Was called on phone by HR Rep. and given a time for Appt. to interview with her. Day before interview Iwas called by another HR rep. and told interview date and time was changed. When I went in to interview appointment HR rep was not in and had interview with Assistant manager. Was asked about 8 questions mostly on how I would respond to different situations concerning dealing with issues concerning customers. And that was it. Got an email a week later politely declining me for the position.

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Madison, AL (took a day)
To get an interview took a long time. Everything from the time you apply is automated so to call and express your interest in the position is almost useless. But i did, i even went after the managers at the store i was interested in an finally was able to speak with the hiring manger. the interview wasn't even an interview, by the time the whole process was over they had filled all the positions they needed. Basically they told me that the computer system returns a list of qualified candidates, and then the hiring manger only has to pick three for each position to interview and it's such a basic position that she just chooses randomly who to interview.
The best way to get the job: (from her own words) apply to many stores, over and over. AS long as you are qualified, eventually your name will make it onto that list of three. and you'll be interviewed.

Interviewed Jan 2011 (took 3 weeks)
Applied online for a position and received a call for an interview a few weeks later. Interviewed first by the HR manager then by the Ass't Manager. You could tell they were busy, but they were both very friendly. Both asked a half dozen or so questions. I had reviewed all of the previous submissions on glassdoor and I was prepared for every question.
