I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Lowe's in October 2013.
Interview Details – Most questions focus on dealing with customers. How do you handle a difficult customer, when did you go out of your way to service a customer. Also, why did you choose Lowe's, what about the position attracts you, what are your long term goals.
Interview Question – They ask for specific examples of situations you have dealt with, so be prepared to cite very specific details, not speaking in generalities. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – No negotiation, position was offered with salary, accept or decline.
Very Easy Interview
I applied online and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Lowe's in September 2013.
Interview Details – Very quick process. Applied online and had a call that afternoon to come in for an interview the next day. Came in and interviewed with the Sales Manager. Once that was done he asked if I would be willing to have a second interview with the Store Manager that afternoon. Had second interview that afternoon and was hired on the spot. Started the next day.
Interview Question – Would you be willing to work overnights View Answer
Negotiation Details – Simple. I got what I asked for.
I applied online and interviewed at Lowe's.
Interview Details – Each store hires independently... Have to pass psych test online... Then monitor each store in your geographic range weekly and apply to each opening you are willing to take... I tracked 4-5 stores for 2-3 months and applied for many positions before being called for 2-4 different positions... The people who contacted me were unaware of their peers who had also contacted me... Ended up interviewing for 2 different sales specialist positions simultaneously with store manager -- after online screening -- after separate phone and store interviews for district positions... store manager skipped preliminaries and engaged directly for 30-45 minutes with open ended questions interspersed with me providing background info... Answered standard sort of 'what if' type questions, attitude questions, etc... My impression of the process is it is mainly dependent on the store, the manager(s), and how badly they need someone and how well you present yourself.. If you are more professional, experienced, and present yourself well, you can get a higher offer... The offer you accept more or less locks you into what you will continue to get -- if you want more, do well and transfer positions or seek promotions...
Interview Question – There were occaional 'role playing' scenarios -- I didn't find them that difficult -- possibly due to previous sales, retail mgmt, and construction experience... If you are interviewing for a higher level job, you shouldn't be surprised.... Answer Question
Negotiation Details – I was interviewed for multiple possible positions... I expressed more interest in one -- received an offer for the other... In retrospect, the one i was offered was better suited to me... There was no negotiation over pay -- I had made it clear prior to not waste my time.. They offered me the max, which I was satisfied with... Everything is ultimately dependent on the individual store management/culture -- versus a standardized corporate approach...

Interview Details – Fairly painless, although you can tell they're into all that corporate mumbo jumbo that doesn't really apply to real life.
Interview Question – All of them. I lied and made up most of my answers just to tell them what I thought they wanted to hear. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – There was none - they offered and made it clear that there was plenty of warm bodies behind me. Not very encouraging...
I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Lowe's in April 2013.
Interview Details – I made an application on line through a job board posting. Due to the position of Sales Specialist it was required to take a 2 part interview/personality/knowledge test before the application would be accepted. About 2 weeks later I recieved a call from local HR Manager to set up person to person interview. The interview was with the HR Manager and the Store Manager. Very informal in nature, both were very pleasant to talk with. When questions began each would take turns asking what I would call STAR interview questions. Also questions about my knowledge of products and the store. Asked me to sell them a cabinet job. Interview lasted about 30 minutes. Was told there were several more canidates still to be interviewed. I got a call later the same day offering me the position. Gave HR some more information so a background check could be performed. Two days later was called in for drug test. Two days later was called and told what pay scale would be which was close to what I was expecting and to come in for processing to begin.
Interview Question – They asked several questions about problems you faced and how you reacted to them. Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Lowe's in September 2012.
Interview Details – They want scenario answers. They want the story that explains your answer. Example: Name a time, or tell me about a time when......You have to have a story answer. " I had a customer that nneded (fill in product here) and our store was out. I called nearby stores in the district and got them to....." You get the idea.
Interview Question – This is always gonna be the one question you are not prepared for. It;s different for everyone. For me it was once " Tell me about a time you overcame an obstacle..." View Answer
Negotiation Details – The negotiation went like this: "Here is what the position pays"
