Interviewed Apr 2011 in Houston, TX (took 3 months)
The entire process moved incredibly slow. I had to be very proactive to chase down people in the HR department when I found job postings in which I was interested and applied. There was a lot of red tape to get through the application process, and ultimately I was not ever considered for any position for which I actually applied. I was placed in a pool of highly qualified applicants and was subsequently considered for a position that wasn't even posted.

Excellent phone interview - Recruiter was thorough, friendly, candid and professional. Top Notch! The in person interview was very professional. All people I had contact with were upbeat and pleasant and seemed happy to be there. Met with two managers. One was very personal, engaging, shared more about the direction of the organization, its culture, existing challenges, and asked questions that solicited a dialog. The other manager was very professional and pleasant. Her interview was more structured with an "agenda" and filled with "behavioral" questions, some of which were challenging to answer. She was more of a "by the book" type personality and she was harder to get to know on a more personal, candid level. Overall my experience was very positive and I hope to move to the next step!

Interviewed Mar 2009 in Houston, TX (took a day)
At the time I submitted my resume the radiation therapy market was not as saturated as it is now.
The MDA HR department and recruiters were very responsive but I was referred by an employee in a leadership position.
The interview was a panel type interview which can be intimidating.
Make sure you answer the questions correctly, know your job expectations, and the MD Anderson culture. Try and connect with at least two people in the panel.
Be prepared to work in a large department.
As a whole the therapy team are excellent, and caring individuals with a high level of integrity all working for the patients. As in any large group there are a few lazy people who skate by under the radar.

As a postdoc, I only get interview from my boss's group. People sit together listen to my presentation, asking questions. Nothing different from ordinary seminar. I did a good job and my research direction suits my boss's lab well. So i got the offer. But the paperwork process really took me a long time.

Interviewed Mar 2008 in Houston, TX (took 3 weeks)
I was called by a headhunter and provided a resume. I did a video interview, and that led to a trip to Houston. I spent the morning with the head executive in the business unit for which I wanted to work. 3 hours of pointed questions about my experience and productivity. In the process we seemed like minded and had simialr professional and organization philosophies and goals. Went home with an expectation of an offer. Recruiter said UT system politics resulted in the offer of the position to a family member of a high up UT insider.
