Interviewed Oct 2009 (took a day)
I don't believe that they were very organized. I applied for a position in one department but ended up speaking to someone from another department. The person who interviewed me was surprised to find out about my background. We ended up talking about the open position from his group but obviously it did not fit my experience very well.

Received a call from the company's headquaters in Rochester- asked me several questions such as what was it that made me apply at M&T Bank? She set me up with an interview with the branch manager and he asked me some questions he would like answered. It seemed to go really well, but that was 4 days ago and I havent heard anything

Interviewed Jul 2010 (took 4+ weeks)
I applied then received a call a month later after I had completely forgotten about applying. I was given a phone interview at first basic questions such as the basic scenario questions like explain a time you went above and beyond. Then you were told whether you'd get an in person interview at the branch. The in person interview was a 2:1 interview consisting of the lead teller and branch manager. Same basic questions they state whats the job requirements and everything. Overall it wasn't a good experience because the questions were based upon working as a teller so you either have the experience to answer the questions or you don't. Also it wasn't really formal the overall attitude of the room was not professional. I had a more professional interview at JCPenney a week earlier.

Interviewed Nov 2009 (took a day)
The initial interview process was conducted in an organized fashion. I had a total of 4 interviews spread out over a 2 week span. I felt very comfortable sitting with a lot of "big" names in the company because they all made me feel welcomed. After chatting about my role in the company (once hired on), everyone seemed to really like the idea of getting to know me by asking me about my past experiences, my family, and educational background. It was really great to share fun stories about myself outside of a professional setting. It really gave them the opportunity to build rapport with someone they eventually hired on their team.

Interviewed Mar 2010 in Buffalo, NY (took a day)
Interview consisted of a 30 minute personality interview. The interviewer was very personable and the whole interview did not feel too stressful. Since M&T is a regional bank, they really want you to know the presence and business of the company. They are looking for someone who is willing to relocate to Northeast region.

Interviewed Nov 2009 (took 4 weeks)
Phone interview: aced as usual.
Went to HQ (Which is in the middle of nowhere) for interview with 5 people 1:1 for 5-6 hours. Must have not done well cuz no offer.
Pros: one of the managers I interviewed with was very nice.
Cons: HQ is in depressing location, 1 interviewer didnt show up, they made me come to HQ by 8-10hrs on train cuz they didnt want to pay for a flight, I literally went hungry b/c they interviewed me all day and provided now food for the day I was there. I would've been willing to buy but the HQ is literally in a meadow. Overall got a negative company vibe and am almost glad I didn't get an offer.

Interviewed Oct 2008 (took a day)
The recruiter saw my resume online and contacted via primary number to give information about the position and schedule an interview if I was interested. I accepted and because I was currently employed, I scheduled an interview that was two weeks from the day we spoke. When I arrived at the headquarters for the interview, the recruiter was very friendly and led me to a room where about ten other applicants were waiting to be interviewed. Some people had to fill out applications and others already had an online resume/application already completed. Then, I filled out another pre-interview paper that just asked for basic contact info.
After another ten minutes or so, the recruiter came in,called my name and led me to a room where I was introduced to the HR director who would be conducting the first interview for my position. She too, was extremely friendly and seemed very knowledgeable of the potential position and very excited to have me come on board. After my interview with her, I then was led into the branch itself, where I interviewed with my future manager and assistant manage, who were both very curteous and didn't come off as intimidating even though both parties questioned me for the final interview.
Next, I was given the drug test papers and 48hrs to go pee in a cup. I submitted my papers next day, and once the company recieved them, I was called at home with an offer, which was .50 more than I asked for and came with full benes!

For my negotiation, I just wanted more than what I made at my current employer, and since I made it very clear that I didn't plan to quit anytime soon, I just wanted a safe cushion for salary just in case I did. I played it very safe.

Interviewed Aug 2009 (took a day)
Fairly basic interview questions about past education and work experience and what you believe you would bring to the job. Truly seemed more of a chance for them to gauge one's personality and inter-personal skills for such a customer care related position. I was told that the do like to promote internally but were not really wowed by any of the employees who chose to interview. Unfortunately, I was basically told that I was over-qualified for the position but there was a sales-development program that they would like to make me a candidate for in the summer. Come summer time the program was temporarily disbanded due to lack of candidates.
