Interviewed Mar 2012 (took 3 days)
The interview was very easy and the questions asked were very easy to answer. I met with the Cosmetic Manager first, She seemed very impressed by what I said and ased me to wait around to interview with the Business manager for the brand. She asked me the same questions the Cosmetic Manager asked and too seemed to feel I would fit right in.

Interviewed Mar 2012 in Fremont, CA (took 2 months)
I applied in January and have gone to 4 interviews in the past 4 months. I am supposed to hear back in the next week or so. Each interview was followed by an interview with a higher up employee. Overall the hiring process is taking longer than expected. If you apply online for the Beauty Advisor position, they usually mean they are hiring counter managers but Macy's just hires under the Beauty Advisor title. (At least that's what I was told) Also even after four months I'm not sure if I'm being considered for an on-call, part time, or full time position because each interviewer gave me a different answer.

Interviewed Mar 2012 in New York, NY (took a day)
The interview was very easy and the qestions asked were very easy to answer. I met with the Cosmetic Manager first, She seemed very impressed by what I said and ased me to wait around to interview with the Business manager for Estee Lauder. She asked me the same questions the Cosmetic Manager asked and too seemed to feel I would fit right in. She told me I wouold have to do a phone interview with one o the execs and then I should know if Im hired. However I never received the call for the phone interview and was sent an email that I would not be offered a position because they had no full tim positions available. This pissed me off because during the interview I also to the Estee Lauder Businww Manager that I would surely accept a part time position and she was clear, however they told me they couldnt offe me a position, that sucked!

Interviewed Mar 2012 in Atlanta, GA (took 1 week)
I applied online for all positions and was sent an email that same night to interview for the Beauty Advisor position. I scheduled it for the earliest time I could (a week after the email) and was there on time. I spoke with a member of HR and was asked several questions about sales. I have no experience in makeup so the HR person told me of other opportunities in the store (sales associate) she thought would fit me better. After the interview I was told I'd be scheduled for a second interview in which I accepted.

Interviewed Jul 2011 (took a day)
Scheduled interview online, which was two weeks before avaiable interview date. When I went in, the Cosmetic Manager was busy so I had to interview with the Sales Manager (who was previously the cos. mgr so it was okay). She was nice and it went well, but there were no openings at that time which is why I assume I wasn't called back. I did everything, dressed in black skirt, neutral blouse, black patent shoes. Had a portfolio with copies of resume and reference, and even sent in thank you letter. Keep in mind it's more about the SALES and customer service initiative, not being able to play with makeup.

Interviewed Sep 2011 (took 5 days)
Overall, this was a very unprofessional experience. I applied online, indicating my prior experience and availability, which was part time. I arrived at the interview and HR seemed very disorganized. There wasn't even anyone there to interview me, so I waited an extra half an hour past my scheduled time. When I was finally called in for my interview the first thing I was asked about was my availability. I restated what I put on the application and was told that I could leave because they wanted someone with more availability. This was a waste of my time, because had they just looked at my application they would have known that I couldn't give them the hours they wanted.

Interviewed Aug 2011 in Santa Maria, CA (took 2 weeks)
Had to schedule an appointment through an automated system online. Came to interview, was asked several basic questions. She said she will keep in contact through email. A friend asked me if they hired me on the spot, I said no and she assumed I will not be hired.. Still no response

Interviewed Aug 2011 in Allentown, PA (took a day)
Initial communication was done completely online, including scheduling an interview. My interviewer didn't know she had an interview scheduled for my particular day. She was late and seemed disheveled, or at least unprepared. The interview itself consisted of run of the mill questions, most of which are easily answered if you have an interest in makeup. At the end of the interview, I was told that there wasn't currently an opening but that they were considering opening a position within the next few weeks.
