Interviewed Sep 2011 in New York, NY (took a day)
A mixer was staged the night before and there were two interviews on the same day, back to back. They asked questions about teamwork, and very general questions about fashion, working in offices and our experiences with past employment on the resume. It was very difficult to tell how they felt about me since I had no fashion experience, but they were polite and in general seemed a little mundane about the whole interview. After getting declined, I contacted them to ask why and how I could improve my interviewing skills, but there was no response.

Interviewed Jul 2011 (took a day)
I did the application online several times. I was declined on the first interview by the manager but had a second interview shortly after with a different manager whom insisted that I had a great attitude. I then received the phone call to set a date for the 1:1 interview.
When it came time to interview I did not panic. The interview was your typical interview with typical questions along the lines of 'what would you do in this situation', and 'name a time when you went over and beyond'. Really typical customer service / retail questions.
The funny thing is that I believe that the hiring and interview process has major faults. There are some times when people will not get hired just because the interviewer does not like a certain aspect about the interviewee. Waivers should be signed for the interview process to be completely unbiased.
Anyway, I passed the interview the second time with flying colors. The people were not intimidating at all. It definitely was not the worst interview I have been to.
Negotiation Details
There was no negotiation phase. If you want more money you would have to speak up. I thought it was going to come up somewhere in the interview.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Pittsburgh, PA (took 2 months)
I was referred to Macys HR for the EDP Store Manager Track. I was given a call by one of the HR recruiters who asked me several behavorial questions. After that my second interview was with another HR recruiter who asked the same set of behavorial questions. He was quite dry. Even though I felt the interview went well, I was told I would hear something within 2 weeks. It was a month before I heard anything and that was because I reached out to them.

Interviewed Jul 2010 in Alexandria, VA (took 5 days)
It was a very quick process. I applied online then got an email to schedule an interview. I had my interview with the manager of the area I would work in. She asked me if I had any retail experience (which is not required) I gave her some examples. We shared some laughs. Then she extended the offer. Which I accepted. I started 3 days later.

Interviewed Nov 2011 (took 2 months)
After spending 2 months interviewing for a marketing position, they decided to offer the position to someone internally. If this was the case they shouldn't of wasted my time interviewing and scheduling interviews in the morning and late afternoon on the same day!!! I had a 4 hour gap in between interviews!!! waste of time!!!!!! Then i waited and waited and did not get a repsponse. After 3 emails in 3 weeks I was finally told that i didn't get the job!!!

Interviewed Aug 2011 (took a day)
Applied on-line to advertised position I was truly interested in. Received back an e-mail for a personal invitation to schedule a day/time for an interview via on-line scheduling program. System promptly responded with confirmation e-mail. Received one personal call to change the date. Arrived at interview on time and interviewed on time. Interviewed by hiring manager, was given lot's of informative information regarding the position, felt relaxed as far as the interviewer and my skills for the position. I brought a copy of my resume that was appreciated and used, sent a follow-up thank you letter via e-mail - always ask for interviewers card/e-mail address. About a week later I followed up with a phone call and this particular time gave me major bonus points and I was hired for a job I really wanted!

Interviewed Oct 2011 in King of Prussia, PA (took a day)
Typical Macy's interview questions. Just read through the reviews here, contains almost all the questions they will ask. Employees there seem happy. The interview went very well, but at the end the manager said she doesn't have a full time position to offer which was what I applied. It's a waste of time if you were scheduled for a full time position interview but then told no position to offer.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Buffalo, NY (took a day)
I was looking for a job and applied for a seasonal associate at Macy's during the weekend. The next day I got an email to schedule my interview. I scheduled it the next day after classes and arrived 10 minutes early. Make sure you dress in all black as that's what the dress code calls for. Guys wear a tie and black pants with nice shoes and for the ladies where any black dress or blouse but nothing to short or revealing to be safe. I met a few people while the HR lady came 5 minutes later and we went to an office room packed with decorations and papers. I looked up everything to prepare for an interview as it was my first one. It was really basic with Q's like, Why Macy's? What's good customer service? Any previous experience in sales? How flexible is your schedule? And it was real quick and not as nerve racking as I thought it would be as the lady was nice. The place was hectic in preparing for sales and training for me starts the next week. I left with a lot of questions about training process, employee discounts, and sales process. They seem to expect a lot of from their employee but I love Macy's and everyone there are really helpful. Hope this helps.
