I applied online at the Macy's department store. Within one day I received an email asking to set an interview time (everything is done from a computer). I studied up on the company the night before and had a organized binder ( cover letter, recommendations, work/school experience, and prepared questions I had). The interviewer who ended up being my manager, was really impressed about how much I knew about the company, and how I was prepared. The interview only took maybe 5 minutes, i knew i had the job because how well I was prepared and her facial expressions. I would advise to study on the company (how long they have been in business, how much Macy's donates or tries to help organization,etc. Also i would study up on interview questions that might be asked, and practice.

I filled out the app online. 4 days later they called me in. I had a 1v1 with a seasonal manager. Everything moved along quickly and professionally. I was offered a position the same day.

Applied through the web portal, received a call from the supervisor about one week later asking me to interview. I found the office to be less than exciting, but the interview and supervisor were great. I later met with other members of the team and we hit it off. Much of the interview was tangent conversations, but they agreed that they felt comfortable advancing me to the next round. The next round was an assignment based on the objectives of the position. Ultimately, I was called and thanked two weeks after my assignment was submitted, but told I was 'over-qualified.'

I applied for the position online. A few days later, I received an email asking me to schedule myself an interview. I picked my day and time and showed up a few minutes early. They provide directions to get to the executive office and I waited patiently with another lady for someone to come and get me. As the other person and I waited, another lady showed up, late for her interview. From my understanding she didn't get the job. I was called by one of the managers and I followed her into a room. She asked my basic questions such as why do I want to work for the company, what would I do under stress, do i know what all is expected of me. She offered me the job and informed me of two positions they had available. I accepted one of the positions. I was told I would receive a call within a few days to schedule my training. The next day which was on a Friday I got the call and scheduled my training for the following Monday.

I made sure I did some research on the company which played in my favor because they have an all black dress code. I dressed accordingly. It also pays to be a little early. Mention "the magic of macy's" and just talk as if you are a team player.

Applied for a Macy's seasonal sales associate position online, received an e-mail stating that I should schedule for an interview. There were no time slots available for an interview; checked back daily finally found an available day. I went in for the interview had to sit in the office for 30 minutes before anyone took me back to begin the interview process. Everyone seemed to be busy and I had a random employee interview me. After the inital interview I was told that they currently didn't have any positions available and that I could be an "on-call" associate for $8.25/hr. if I wanted the job I was to come in the next morning for training and orientation.

Got to the interview site. Very neat and well laid out. First bad sign was when the interview came out of her office and stared at my Aldo pumps for like two minutes before introducing herself. She then commented on how nice my clothes were. Really? This is a business interview. Let's get our priorities straight. We proceeded to talk. Background questions, employment history, personality questions. Then she told me I seemed like a great fit. Then she proceeded to describe a postion that did not match the one i applied for. Instead of an administrative support associate, I'd be in the office, on the floor, in the stockroom, in the field, doing EVERYTHING a manager would do, but for just $9.00 measly dollars. I promptly thanked her for her time and said I would not be interested. I felt totally mislead. Please post REAL job descriptions on your website so people can actually decide if they want to work under those conditions. Office setting was very neat but the people were underdressed and seemed to take offense to my professional appearance. I would verify the requirements of the position before going to an interview unless your just desperate for employment. And also don't dress too well.

I thought the interview was really unprofessional. I wasn't even asked any questions, just what my availability was. I had no prior sales experience, so that definitely hurt my chances (although they knew that from my CV, so I'm not sure why they called me in).

I applied for Macy's online and in 2 days received an email to schedule an interview. When I got there the manager that scheduled my interview wasn't there so, I had to wait for the HR rep to call in another manager which took an hour. When the manager came in he was very easy going and professional. He asks basic interview questions from a script and offered me the job, I accepted the job offer and he left out the room to get my papers ready but after 30 minutes of waiting the manager returned only to tell me that the previous manager who scheduled my interview had scheduled a surplus amount of interviewees. Needless to say, they retracted my job offer and told me to reapply for another position, but I didn't bother.
