I appplied to Macy's prior to re-applying at a different time. My information was already on file and I just resubmitted my resume. I got an email requesting me to schedule an interview online and to wait for an open time to come up. The latest time and only time was in the afternoon and once you pick a time you can only change it one other time. No hiring manager called, everything is over the internet. Once I set up my interview online and the date came I talked with the hiring manager.
Some questions she asked included "Why Macy's?" and "Describe a time you recieved bad customer service?". I was also asked to sell something to them. Since I am a college student I applied for part-time but the hiring manager said at the interview they were not hiring part-time at the moment and that all their seasonal workers had the positions filled. Oddly right before the interview a new employee around my age was sitting with another employee filling out her time schedule and being instructed when to pick days.
They stated that they would call me in if the seasonal worker or part-time employee had quit or a position opened but it seemed like she was trying to avoid saying "You didn't get the job." However she had no issue saying bluntly "Don't call us asking for (her name)" and "We will not call you unless we need you."
I have no retail experience and it would have been my first job. I tried my best but they really look for employees with retail or customer service background, or perhaps any job working with the public.

The interview process went well. I showed up early, well dressed and groomed. We basically went over the questions they already have planned for you. The people were nice, we laughed a lot during the interview and smiled. But in the end I wasn't offered a position.

Sat in a room filled with others having 1-1 interviews as well. Asked me basic interview questions like: why Macy's? What would you do if you caught one of your coworkers stealing? And tell me about a time you've shown great customer service? After all questions I was instructed to wait to speak to another manager. After talking to that manager I was immediately hired on the spot.

Interviewed May 2011 (took 3 months)
I was a current Sales Manager with the company and through my HR department of my District, I had them contact my new prospective district for a transfer. Even though I was already employed by the company, I had to interview for my new position in a different district, despite having solid past results.
I contacted them in February 2011 about a May 2011 move to my new area and was told that I would need to move out sooner for a new job. I agreed to this and submitted my application for one store in the area as per instruction for the end of March 2011.
I was told a week later that the position I applied for wasn't available due to losing a management position at that location, and to apply for a different store in the area, which I did in early April 2011. I phone interviewed a week later, and didn't hear back about that job until May 2011 when I was told that position was not available at all either.
I was told to apply for a third store in the area that next week, and I phone interviewed with them the next week. That store's assistant manager told me that he would call me back within a week. When he didn't call me back, I attempted to call him back and never heard from him again.
One week later--the week I was initially supposed to move, but had put off that move due to no transfer being effective yet--I received a call from the initial store I applied at, letting me know that they wanted to interview me for an opening there. I phone interviewed with them that Friday and was offered the job on Tuesday. My start date was set for early June--a full month after I was supposed to be out there.

There was no negotiation, I was told that I would receive 3% more than what I was currently making, and that there was no cost of living adjustment for my move.

I received an email in order to schedule an interview. I arrived for the interview and waited in the executive office. One of the manager's, Chastity, interviewed me. She was really generous and professional. Everyone there treated me with the utmost respect. I was asked eight questions. As far as advice is concerned, you should dress business professional (meaning a suit and tie for males). For females, you should wear a professional suit. You need to tell them what they want to hear (not what you think the moral answer is).

Received an email to set up the interview with the recruiter. The recruiter then asked via email to take a iq test and an extensive personality test prior to the interview process. The interview consisted of a phone interview received an email for a follow up a week after for a webcam interview. 4 days after webcam interview received a phone call about the offer. After speaking with the recruiter an acceptance letter was sent via email then sign and accecpted.

Applied online recieved an email to schedule an interview for a certain day of the next following week and time. I schedule for a tuesday moring waited 15 minutes than someone from office came to interview which was the sales department manager. Interview was simple ask Why you want to work for Macys? When working with a team what your duties and were you successful. How would you sell a Macys Credit Card? After the process i took a survey that they do now after the interview not hard at all. After the interview he went check what positions available were there. Apparently my availability was the problem they needed someone for the moring shift and i couldn't accept it due to school.

The interview was very easy for me due to the fact I didn't have to take an interview. This Macy's must have been really desperate for workers that all I was required to do was retake a simple test based on if the agreed or disagreed with certain situations or scenarios that happens on the field. After the test I was hired on the spot.

I applied online and was contacted to come in for an interview. I had a one on one interview with one of the sales manager and we went through a list of pregenerated questions like "what would you do if you noticed an employee stealing from the register?" and "tell me about a time when you had to lead a group" and other hypothetical situations. At the end of the interview I was offered a position and accepted it.
