Interviewed May 2011 (took 2 weeks)
Applied online, got a email asking to schedule a appointment 3 days later, interviewed with a nice manager. She asked basic questions like why Macy's, which department i like, name a time you received excellent customer service, availability, etc. She scheduled another interview with different manager next week because he was out of town. Basically the second interview was telling me that i got the job, my salary, hours, etc. After i had to do a background check which took a week, and started orientation two days later.

Interviewed Oct 2010 in Moreno Valley, CA (took a day)
I applied for a Seasonal/Holiday Part-time Merchandise Associate position for Macy's. After 2 weeks of checking the online scheduling center I was finally able to set up an interview, which was today. I went enthusiastic & was friendly with 2 other applicants who were also waiting to be interviewed for various positions. FYI, at 28 years old, I have 4 years of retail experience as a Retail Associate for a small Downtown LA fashion store, and 6 years experience as a Business Office Manager, but times are tough and I will apply to any job I can get. With that said I was happy to be interviewed, but my enthusiasm went downhill from the moment I was called by the hiring manager into the his office. He seemed to be having a rough day and rushed through my interview like it was taking up his time. I decided to still answer his questions with the best atitude I could and we even laughed a couple times, however through out the whole interview a macy's employee( who did not make eye contact with me and was rude) was on the computer listening to our entire interview, which i felt was unprofessional to say the least. Not to sound self absorbed but I have always been hired on the spot for all the jobs I've had, or at the very least have been treated with respect by the interviewer and Macy's has me feeling like I barged into their human resource office and shouldn't be given the time of day. With that said even if they decided to hire me in the future, I'm not sure, based on the interview experience, that I would want to work around these type of people.

Interviewed Oct 2010 in Minneapolis, MN (took a day)
When I applied to the Macy's Downtown Minneapolis store online I got a request to interview the next day. Once I rescheduled and had the interview the Hiring Manager was very courteous. Even though she was going through a district inspection of her store she was very nice and it was a good interview. She explained that if I were to take the job that it was seasonal, but after the holidays if I liked the job and the company hired me then I would be offered a full -time position. I think it helped that I already liked the company and used the customer service experience that I had received from the company. In talking about the company I gave answers to questions that weren't asked, thus I led the interview. Basically, learn about the company and use that in your interview and you will do fine.

Interviewed Mar 2010 in Monterey, CA (took a day)
I waited in the HR room, was brought in with another woman. The interviewer asked both of us about ourselves, she talked about the job. She then asked if I was more interested in a Sales position and I said yes. After the interview i was hired over the phone for a sales position. Just look professional, and be friendly, and sociable.
