Interviewed Mar 2012 in Schaumburg, IL (took 1+ week)
Emailed to schedule interview, made appointment for Wednesday. Went to interview but they had to reschedule. Rescheduled Saturday, went to the appointment. Offered me the job and I accepted. We discussed my responsibilities and pay, when I would start. 2 days later, today, I got an automated email saying they really liked me but did not have any open positions

Interviewed Jul 2011 (took a day)
First had a phone interview that was basic education/work experience questions. Then had 1:1 interview with one of the managers. By far one the most difficult interviews I've had for such a basic position. Found out later that the manager thinks her last name is Macy and everyone else's interviews were a breeze. Asked a lot of situational/behavioral questions. Was offered position and accepted. 5 months later was offered a permanent position and accepted.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Springfield, IL (took 2 days)
I interviewed with the store's HR manager. Basic retail sales questions were asked, such as: "Describe a time when you dealt with a dissatisfied customer. What was the outcome? What steps did you take to achieve this out come?" " Explain a scenario when you overhead an employee speaking of management. What did you do with this information and how was the situation ultimately handled if at all?" Several more questions of the same nature followed and the interview came to a close. I was contacted the next day by the HR manager and pitched an offer.

Negotiation Details
Management extended an offer of employment at a specific rate of pay. Entry level applicants should always expect the first offer to be low. If you have prior experience in a retail environment I would say it's worth a shot to make a counter offer of .50 cent or so higher.

I applied online and received a call within 3 weeks to come in for an interview. The inteview consisted of situational questions regarding customer service and a review of my job history and resume. Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 2 days)
I first interviewed for a sales associate position but the interviewer recommended I interview for the Sales Supervisor position available for the holidays. I then spoke with the HR head and they described the position to me. She asked me to come back into the store for a second interview with the store manager.

Interviewed Jul 2011 (took a day)
I filled out the app online, did the assessment afterwards and got an email days later for an interview which i scheduled a week later, i wanted to prepare myself for it.
this was my second interview with macy's at another location the first one i was told to call back because HR was on vaca but never did. just because u don't get one doesn't mean u shouldn't apply to another.
i suggest wearing all black since it's their dress code
the interview was not that hard because 1.) i had one before with almost the same questions and 2.) i did my research on the company on on here and that really helped.
i suggest writing the questions (weather they have the answers or not) and looking over them so u know how to answer each one

Interviewed Mar 2010 in Chicago, IL (took a day)
This wasn't even an interview. I was scheduled for one, but when I showed up for it, the HR guy said there were no managers available to interview me. He looked over my resume and then hired me on the spot. I later learned that this was a common practice, though some people were subjected to two interviews on two different days by different managers... even though they were hired for the same position in the same department as myself! Not sure how they determine who gets to skip through the process without an actual interview...
