Interviewed May 2012 (took a day)
applied online, received an email to schedule an interview about 4 days later. i scheduled my appointment for 11:00 and sat down with a very nice lady. she asked me questions, though, that weren't on this website at all, and i wasn't prepared for any of them. i had to think very hard about a lot of the questions. she was very nice, though, and i hope i get it. note to college students: if you're home for the summer i wouldn't bother applying for this job. they want someone long term and i feel i botched the interview by saying that i'm home for the summer.

Interviewed Mar 2012 in Los Angeles, CA (took 2 weeks)
I applied online and got an email 5days later to schedule myself for an interview. interviewed a week later,Interviewer didn't really ask questions that would give me an opportunity to sell myself. You might want to go really early, cos by they took the three people who interviewed before meso im guessing they already got what they wanted.

Interviewed Feb 2012 in Muncie, IN (took a day)
I got an e-mail about 2 weeks after I filled out the application online. I picked the today which is (02/28/2012)
for 5:30 pm. I got there 15 minutes early. They went ahead and set me down in the office. I waited about 5-8 minutes for the lady to come in. First she asked me my availability which she seen on my papers is all the time. Then she asked why Macy's, when was a time u worked with a team what was your role and what was the outcome, how would you celebrate a purchase, how would you help a lady trying to find pants, how would you get same lady buy other things, when was a time you showed integrity and seen someone doing something against the rules and and what happened. What would you do if you and a co worker had 2 different opinions, what would you do it the something was set in place that impacted the employees, thats about all i can remember besides another question about my availability. She told me she would have some person look over my answers and if i fit any openings they would call me in for a second interview, I am really hoping they call me! I need this job.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Clearwater, FL (took a day)
I applied online via snagajob.com for a FULL TIME Retail Sales position. I got an email to interview for a FULL TIME Retail Sales position. I went to the interview and was interviewed not for full time, but for flex time/temporary Retail Sales. The interview went well until the interviewer told me that I was not interviewing for full time but for seasonal. Everything about the application and interview scheduling process said full time in black and white. No mention of seasonal sales. I went back and confirmed this before posting this review. There is even a separate application for seasonal work that I did not apply for. The interview went well overall despite the difference noted above. Basic questions about "Why Macy's?", "Example of good customer service given or received.", "How would you sell a product to a customer?". It lasted about 15-20 minutes. My only complaint is the dishonesty in the initial job posting. If you want seasonal, I have no problem working seasonal, but make that clear upfront before the application process begins. Too many people are unemployed and in need of work to be fooling around like this.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Flint, MI (took a day)
Well, I applied online, and I got an email asking to interview and pick a day on a site. I went in for the interview and I was greeted in a professional way. The woman I interviewed with was nice and easy to talk to, she asked questions off a sheet of paper. She asked the basic questions like "Are you a team player?" "Name a time you received exceptional customer service and gave good customer service?" "Why Macy's?" "What would you do if you saw a co-worker stealing?" "How do you feel about receiving compliments for a good job?" "What if you didn't get along with a co-worker"? Basic questions like these. I would also say dress professional, stylish, and in black, it doesn't have to be all black, but have some type of black on because its the dress code.

Interviewed Jun 2011 (took a day)
The interview was a one on one interview. I applied online and received an e-mail to schedule an interview. I showed up at my interview ten minutes early. The interview did not start at the time that I scheduled. I had to wait awhile before I interviewed with someone. During the interview, some topics that were discussed are availability, as well as what Macy's as a company was all about. My interviewer was easy to talk to. Due to the days that I was available, no job offer was made, but they will keep me in mind if any on-call positions are available. I am not expecting to get an offer, but I thought the interview process was a good experience to get to know what the company is about.

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Lees Summit, MO (took a day)
I filled out an application online, and they e-mailed me 2 days later. We set up an interview at the local store, and I interviewed first with the store manager, and then with the department manager. They offered me a job on the spot and I accepted.
Negotiation Details
I couldn't really negotiate. Since I had no previous retail experience, I could only take 8.00 an hour. That was less than my previous job.

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Houston, TX (took a day)
Macys is a complete waist of time for SERIOUS people who are looking for work in this miserable economy..When I applied online the job listed FULL TIME RETAIL ASSOCIATE!! I have alot of sales and customer service exp so I applied for the position online in which later that day I recieved an email to schedule an interview. When I arrived I went to the HR dept which was empty at first so I was very happy and signed in..A lady came out of one of the interview rooms and told me that someone would be with me shortly, I waited about ten minutes and went in a office with a very nice lady and interviewed which in my opinion went well, she told me that she wanted me to do a second interview with a dept manager and told me to go back to the waiting area until the manager came to interview me, when I returned to the waiting area the room was PACKED with people waiting to be interviewed, I could not believe this because it was totally empty before I went into her office.I waited about 15 minutes and did a second interview with another nice lady but seems to me it was irrelevant because I had already told the first lady that I was not interested in this dept but I went along with interview to remain respectful and professional, it seemed like they were just pulling managers at random out of there depts to interview..So i was then told that a third interview would take place with another dept manager I waited over 3o minutes for the dept manager and when she finally arrived she was less than thrilled to interview me, had a very snobby uninterested attitude toward my responses and was really getting on my nerves with this behavior..I also notice how OLD she was..Im talking VERY OLD and she was mentioning that her department needed to be revived, the whole time I was sitting there thinking it could be revived if they would get her out of there and maybe put in someone who was more VIBRANT and could draw in the customer..Im not trying to sound mean but Macys does have alot of very old ladies working in the WRONG departments..After that interview I wrapped everything up with the first lady I interviewed with and was told that they only had on call positions available..by this time I was PI$$ED and told her that the add said FULL TIME!!! she told me that position was already filled and they leave the add posted anyway..I told her very professionaly but stern that I had never been through that many interviews and wasnt actually offered a job and mislead by an ad that said full time but turns out it is not(seems like they just leave the info posted to attract more candidates to apply)..Who in the hell wants to work on call????..I now know who!!,,An old elderly lady would because Macys know there sitting at home not doing anything, now I see why so many old people work for them..they are ON CALL available..I have spent ALOT of money at Macys and because of this unprofessional stupid waste of time interview I will never set foot in there stores again, also It was posted many of times how your forced to sell that ripp off credit card of theirs to naive shoppers and if you dont meet the credit app quotas your in trouble..Macys is a big joke of a company and have lost my business and respect!!!!
