Interviewed Nov 2011 in Oak Brook Mall Branch, IL (took a day)
I filled out the app online. 4 days later they called me in. I had a 1v1 with a seasonal manager. Everything moved along quickly and professionally. I was offered a position the same day.

Interviewed Dec 2011 in Manhasset, NY (took a day)
I thought the interview was really unprofessional. I wasn't even asked any questions, just what my availability was. I had no prior sales experience, so that definitely hurt my chances (although they knew that from my CV, so I'm not sure why they called me in).

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 1 week)
Basicaaly asked about my sales experience, how i would present a product to a customer , discussed the uniform and my possible hours, but for some reason did not get the job. Overall was an easy interview, had a little bit of a wait for the intervieweer, just be honest and punctual and everything should be fine.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Peabody, MA (took a day)
After arriving, I was escorted to a room with several computers and 5 other applicants/ new hires. Waited a brief time and the was ushered to another room that looked like a broom closet where the actual interview took place. The questions were very generic and the interviewer read the them from a sheet of paper while jotting down my answers. I was asked to describe a time when I received good customer service and describe a time when I gave great customer service. I was also asked why I wanted to work for Macy's. The breakdown of the company was given to me and I was shown a triangle with sales $$ being the most important thing to thing to the company followed by opening credit cards and lastly the appearance of the store. Towards the end of the interview the interviewer stated that there I would need to be flexible and provide coverage where needed and the pay rate was $8.00. I explained that I was confused because I there to interview for the Gift Registry position in Bridal and asked if that position was still available or would the pay rate be negotiable. The interviewer left the office (twice) and came back stating that position had been filled and the pay rate was non negotiable (had I known this, I wouldn't have bothered with the interview in the first place). I told the individual I would think about it, but the experience made me wonder about working for this company.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Seattle, WA (took a day)
Applied online for a sales position, but got an email offering the position of selling floor replenishment instead. However, on the day of 1:1 interview the hiring manager seemed to quite like my personality and told me that I'm more fit for being a Sales, so I was put back to the position that I have originally applied for. Got hired immediately. The staff and Manager are very polite and friendly.

Interviewed Nov 2011 (took 2 days)
Applied online & received an e-mail to schedule an interview with Macy's within an hour—available times were at around noon two days later.
Arrived at the executive's office to check in with HR and was interviewed shortly after by a very kind and generous interviewer.
Basic interview questions are asked and written down by the interviewer, some caught me off guard.
Part way, schedule availability was discussed and the interviewer spoke of a possibility to being able to stay employed with the company past the seasonal time-frame if the manager approves. Interviewer informs me that they needed to check on the hiring schedule and leaves the room for about 3 minutes to come back and inform I did not get the job. Kind of disappointed, but I suppose my chances would have been better if I had applied a few weeks prior. Good opportunity overall.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Metairie, LA (took a day)
I interviewed for a replenishment/stock position but the manager thought my personality would be better suited in Floor Sales, so I was hired for the watch department. I did one interview today and I come back in 2 days to get added to their system & begin training.
She asked the basic questions like "How have you handled a stressful work situation?" and "Give a time when you provided excellent customer service."
The manager was very nice and the employees I saw seem to work as at team.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Okemos, MI (took a day)
You apply on their website and fill out all your personal information and complete a ~25min questioner about your personality. The next day or so I got an email to set up an interview. I was interviewed by a Sales Associate who asked questions about what you would do in certain situations that often come up with retail jobs like dealing with different customers and the best customer service experience you have had. After about 10 minuted they offered me a job as a Seasonal Flex Sales Associate which means I get to make my own schedule online every week. The pay is $7.40 an hour with commission in certain departments (shoes, suits). The paid training was sitting in front of a computer for 6 hours watching videos and doing cash register training on the computer and with a practice register. You are also paid during the orientation which is 4 hours of movies, discussion, and a tour of the store. Everyone is expected to work and/or be available on certain days like black Friday and the two weeks leading up to Christmas. Everyone is expected to work a 10 hour shift on black Friday this year! Overall everyone was very friendly at the orientation and training and the benefits seem great; 20% discount you can combine with other coupons and promotions, two 30% coupons you can combine with your employee discount to purchase new "work clothes", and Macy's money that you earn from meeting goals and catching shoplifters (can earn up to $5000 worth).

They will email you if they want to interview you then you can pick the date and time. It is pretty casual conversation for my interview. she ask me how can I up sale the product like chocolate? I told her that I would let them sample first and if they like it and ask them if they would like to buy.
