Interviewed Feb 2012 (took 3 weeks)
A friend of mine had mentioned that they were looking for someone and said that I should come to the hotel to fill out an application that next week. I obliged and showed up as early in the morning as I could in business attire. Little did I know, the GM was there as well. She had a little 1:1 with me after I finished my application to inform me that they were about to renovate soon and the responsibilities that came with that. She also told me a little bit about what they were expecting of me as a front desk associate: professionalism (first impressions really do matter), a good memory, experience working with people as well as a clerical background. With that, she sent me on my way with a promise that she would review my application again and call me. A few weeks later, my friend told me I had to complete a drug test and background check. A week after that, I was training under him!

I actually wasn't given an exact hourly wage because I didn't have an "official" interview. It was more of a chat to discuss things that pertain to the job. Not too many questions. Didn't find out what the rate was until I got my first paycheck!!
Other Details
I got the interview through an Employee Referral and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview, a Drug Test and a Background Check.

Interviewed Nov 2011 (took a day)
I applied for this position online, which included a fairly long skills test, where you were asked mutiple choice questions pertaining to how you would handle customer service situations. I also called the location and asked about the position. The operations manager called me back the same day and did a short phone interview (one question; "Why do you want to work in the hospitality industry"). He then invited me for an interview the next day.
I interviewed the operations manager, who then went and talked to the General Manager of the location. The GM came out and did a more thorough and intensive interview. During the second half of the interview, the GM asked me to interview him. This was so that he could understand my interest in working for the Marriott culture as a whole. It seemed to me that the answers that they were most interested in were the ones where I could reveal my personality and ability to follow up and care about customers in a genuine way.
Overall, the experience was very positive, even though (as all interviews are to an extent) the process was nervewracking. Both the GM and the Operations Manager were very professional and friendly. After working here for close to a month, I find that the location is run very well and the staff are treated like a well functioning family. I enjoy working here. It is a perfect place for learning about the hospitality industry.

Applied online, got an email back to set up an interview at the hotel. Came to hotel and interviewed with the front office manager and general manager. Mostly customer service questions and behavioral questions about past situations and how I've handled them. Got a call back the next day with offer.

Interviewed Aug 2008 in Saint Louis, MO (took 5 days)
I was contacted by telephone after applying for a position on a different property. I had a total of three interviews, all of which were fairly short. They were actually looking for a full time desk clerk, but when I mentioned that I'd been on overnight shifts for several years at my last job they indicated that the managers had recently discussed hiring for a part-time overnight position. Of course, I jumped on that opportunity.
This property seems very casual compared to other properties I have seen/stayed at as a guest. It's a friendly environment and the management seems very professional, yet most seem a tad inexperienced. The general manager seemed to be trying to talk me out of the position for most of my interview with him. He went on about how I would need lots of computer knowledge (which I have) and then about how the computer system was very old and maybe not so user friendly. I explained to him that my dad has been programming computers for 36 years and how my first computer had a 10 3/4" floppy drive... and Dad taught me how to write my own programs (since this was when Microsoft was just a twinkle in Bill Gate's eye). This seemed to ease his mind a little.
Overall, it was pretty much a cakewalk.

Interviewed Oct 2009 in Stoneham, MA (took a day)
I spoke with the manager briefly but the job duties were explained very vaguely. I was dissapointed when I heard no response at all if the position was still open or if they had chosen another candidate. It was a positive interview experience and we had great conversation but it was frustrating to not hear back from management regarding hiring decisions.

Interviewed Oct 2008 in New Orleans, LA (took a day)
First I had a phone interview, they asked me why I wanted to work for Marriott and inquired about my previous experience. After that I had a small personal interview and it covered basically the same points discussed over the phone. I also had to take a test that resumed my skills and personality. After that I had to take a drug test. The human resources personnel was very warm and open to the new applicants, they made me feel comfortable and happy to be applying to the company.
