Declined Offer – Interviewed in New Orleans, LA – Reviewed Feb 2, 2013
Interview Details – I was called about 2 weeks after completing the online application. After an interview was scheduled for the following day, I received an email stating that I was no longer in consideration for the position. Confused as to why I was offered an interview and rejected within an hour, I called the hiring manager who stated she did not know why this error had occurred and that my interview was still scheduled.
Interview Question – What would you do with irate clientele who could not be comforted with apologies or comps? Answer Question
Reason for Declining – The position was Sunday-Thursday and 11PM - 8AM. And for the first few weeks I would have to fill in on Friday and Saturday for the part-time auditor. This wasn't possible for me.
No Offer – Interviewed in New Orleans, LA Oct 2012 – Reviewed Oct 26, 2012
Interview Details – 1on 1 interview. I was ask situational questions about past employers. (ex. Tell me a time when...). It was very laid back. I just SUCK at interviews.
Interview Question – Tell me a time when you came up with a creative idea and was it effective. Answer Question
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in New Orleans, LA Dec 2010 – Reviewed Jul 25, 2011
Interview Details – Applied online but was declined twice. I was called in by the Front Office Manager for a personal interview on the second application. Interview done by 3 Front Office Managers in separate days. The hiring process and communication with the 3rd party recruitment agency can be frustrating.
Negotiation Details – I didn't asked nor negotiated for my starting salary, out of respect for a company such as Marriott with its brand and caliber to be fair in this sense. I was told by one of the Managers that starting pay is at $11 per hour. Then an increase of $13 after the 3 months probation. $15 is the maximum increase and over than that would be for supervisory position. Later I would learn that the pay is fixed for $11.40 for a year (after the 3 months probation). Next increase is after your performance review which is after a year or 2. My advice to job seekers is to put in writing the offer that will be made during the interview process.
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in New Orleans, LA Oct 2008 – Reviewed Mar 19, 2009
Interview Details – First I had a phone interview, they asked me why I wanted to work for Marriott and inquired about my previous experience. After that I had a small personal interview and it covered basically the same points discussed over the phone. I also had to take a test that resumed my skills and personality. After that I had to take a drug test. The human resources personnel was very warm and open to the new applicants, they made me feel comfortable and happy to be applying to the company.
Interview Question – I see your experience is very limited to the Front Desk area of a hotel, why should we hire you? Answer Question
