Interviewed Nov 2010 (took 3 months)
Spoke with HR representative in early September. I followed up multiple times to get an interview. Interview consists of simple stuff: prior job experiences, problems you've run into on the job & how you solved them, and examples of working with people to achieve goals. Just your typical conversational public accounting interview.

Interviewed Feb 2010 in Phoenix, AZ (took 1+ week)
Through an internal referal I was working directly with a McGladrey recruiter. Within 1 month of the process starting I was contact to interview. The interview consisted for 1:1 interviews with 4 different people in the department I would be working for. The interview seemed to be more of them selling the firm rather than having much to do with me. I was offered a position approximately 2 weeks later.

Negotiation Details
Depending on how you are brought it depends greatly on their willingness to negotiate. Internal referral tend to be less risky for the employer and they are willing to work with you more. I was able to suggest that I was skeptical about the offer. After a couple of days, they were able to increase their offer by 5%.
Other Details
The interview consisted of a Phone Interview and a 1:1 Interview.

Interviewed Feb 2011 in Davenport, IA (took 6 months)
Applied for a job online in September, was told I did not get it. 4 months later was contacted by HR and did a very brief (5 minute) interview and asked to come to the office for a second round. Met with 2 people at McGladrey, they were both very nice. Was told I would get a decision soon. 3 months later I still haven't heard back (even after emailing the recruiter twice), and I also have yet to be reimbursed for traveling there. Interview questions were based almost entirely off of my resume.

Interviewed Mar 2011 (took 3 weeks)
The first interview was at my school. It was a one on one meeting with a partner. It was a terrific experience. They are very quick with the responses. I got a call for the second interview next day. Second interview was three weeks from first interview. Gave me more than enough time. Second interview was a great smooth process as well. First a manager interviewed me then a director. Then we were taken out for a fancy lunch with an associate. It was one of the smoothest process ever.

Interviewed Mar 2011 (took 5 weeks)
My process consisted of 6 interviews. One over the phone with HR, 3 in the NYC office, 1 in the CT office and 2 over the phone. All feedback was positive, my references were checked and it seemed like it was just a matter of time before the offer came. I really liked everyone I had met with and felt really excited about working at McGladrey....until two days after the last interview, I received a phone call saying the company was going through some re-organization and the position was on hold!? WHAT? For 5 weeks I had rearranged my life to accomodate all these interviews! This can't be happening!!!! I was also told they needed to work out budgets---but shouldn't budgets be determined before a department starts looking to fill a position? HR said they would keep me posted and my "would be manager" said she would contact me after she returns from her vacation in mid-May. It's only the begining of April.....I am not sure what to make of any of this..... Needless to say, I am just bummed about the whole thing!
