Interviewed Oct 2009 in Minneapolis, MN (took 2 days)
Medtronic uses the behavior based method. "Tell me about a time..." Each interviewer is assigned a few of Medtronic's core competencies to focus on, and then they come together post-interview to debrief. They were specific in their questions, and they would follow up if I didn't address the specific scenario they were trying to get at.

Negotiation Details
Part of the value of working at Medtronic is the experience, not really a competitive salary. Use your entrance into the company as your opportunity to negotiate, as any subsequent promotions will be partly determined by your initial salary.
Other Details
I Applied Online and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview and a 1:1 Interview.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Jacksonville, FL (took 2 months)
Applied online in early June 2011, was emailed the next day from a recruiter and asked to fill out screening form, this form had questions such as employment history, things you enjoy and dislike about your current position, salary requirements etc. Pretty much like an interview on paper. She called two days later to set up phone screening with hiring manager. Had a phone interview with hiring manager less than 1 week after applying for the position. One week passed and was invited to fly in for in person interview paid for by the company. That interview consisted of 3 different 1 on 1 interviews. About a month later was asked to come again for second in person interview which consisted of 3 more 1 on 1 interviews and a presentation. A lot of the interview questions were based on behavioral situations. Be prepared for questions that pertain to what would you do if you were in this situation or how have you handled a situation with a rude coworker or customer. All of the people I interviewed with were pleasant and seemed interested in the interview process.
