Interviewed Apr 2012 in Canal Winchester, OH (took 5 days)
As I was filling out my application in the store, a really sweet woman asked me if I was interested in an interview. I said yes and she let me pick out which date and time I'd like to come in. I came in on a Friday to be interviewed and it went okay, but then (and they won't tell you this in advance, so be warned) the interviewer let me know that another woman would be coming in to do my SECOND interview in five minutes. This also went well despite my being caught off guard and I was told that I would be called by the store director for my third interview.

Interviewed Sep 2010 (took 5 days)
Had worked there for years--came back in and applied in store. The manager fast tracked my application to the Team Leader (manager in charge of your designated department). Normally there's a phone interview, but they just scheduled me for an interview with a department leader (General Merchandise, not service). After that I came back in a couple days later to meet with the Store Director. All this time you have to wait for your background check to clear. Once everything is set and they approve you--you're scheduled for a training session.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Lexington, KY (took 1 week)
I applied online. Within 1 1/2 weeks I was called to come in for an interview. I was interviewed by 2 people the 1st day. I agreed to submit to a background check on their computer on a Friday. I was called on Tuesday afternoon to tell me they had received my background check and would like to schedule the final interview the next day. The person that I was to interview with was not available, so I was told meet with the Story Manager. He was quiet pleasant and we talked for approximately 30 minutes. He then welcomed me to Meijer and said that I would see another person fot beging my internet testing- ( which had to be completed before being permitted to go to work). The next day I met with the scheduling manager and was told to report to work the next day.

Interviewed Jan 2009 in Southgate, MI (took a day)
They ask basic questions. At the end of the day the hire almost everyone who shows up the the interview. Because of high turnover they're not really picky.

Interviewed Jan 2009 (took 1 week)
Basically you apply online. If there are open positions a phone call to you is made right away. They call you in for a one on one interview. They ask you situational questions that are very easy to answer on the spot. Then they tell you that they will call you. There is no drug testing for this company. They call with an offer in less than five days. The offer is usually a little above minimum wage.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Jackson, MI (took 1+ week)
I had a half hour phone interview. This was very easy. The person interviewing me was very friendly. I was asked to come in for an in person interview the next day. That interview was with two people who were both very friendly. I was then asked to come in the following day for a 1-1 interview with the Store Director. At the end of this interview I was offered a job pending my background check. There was also discussion of other jobs that I might be interested in such as Pharmacy Tech and it was suggested that I would make good leadership material.

Interviewed Sep 2010 (took 2+ weeks)
I applied online and was offered first a phone interview, a second interview with a manager, and finally an interview with the store director. Talking to them made me feel like just another future red polo. I was "myself" the entire interview, but it felt like the interviewers were all reading a script. I guess with a super everything-you'll-ever-need-ever store like Meijer, they don't have the time or patience to be personable with their prospective employees... However because of that, I never felt comfortale working with them.
Anyway, if you're capable of breathing on your own, able to scan cans and memorize a couple of numbers. You're good to go.

Interviewed Nov 2009 (took a day)
A store was hosting walk in interviews. I filled out an application at the store, and waited about 20 minutes for a 1:1 interview. The interview was very basic and lasted about 15 minutes. The manager told me I would be contacted shortly with an offer, and I walked out of the store 45 minutes after walking in.
