Very Easy Interview
I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at Meijer.
Interview Details – The interview session consists of a brief interview with a team leader and their superior, separately. It is pretty straightforward as they are just making sure you are a normal person that will show up on time and do what you are told.
Interview Question – None. Pretty basic. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – There is no negotiating pay.
I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Meijer in August 2009.
Interview Details – I applied at the in-store kiosk and was contacted within the week. I was asked to come in for an interview the same day, and did so. At this interview I spoke with my potential immediate supervisor (Team Leader) as well as with the Store Director. They asked general questions about previous employment and explained the position to me.
After the interview, I waited a week or so for them to perform a background check and get back to me.
Interview Question – You will be expected to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Is that okay with you? Answer Question
Negotiation Details – There was no negotiation.
I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Meijer in October 2012.
Interview Details – All the applications are done online. There are three interviews: a phone interview which takes about 20 minutes, an interview with your prospective Team Leader, and one with a member of upper management. Many of the questions were very redundant and there were far too many of them. It felt as though the interview lasted for days.
Interview Question – Many of the questions were about how you've handled professional conflict before. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – None, it's an organized store, so everything is decided by contract.
I applied through other source and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Meijer in March 2010.

I applied through college or university and the process took 3 months - interviewed at Meijer.
Interview Details – I went through a campus recruiter. I had an initial on campus interview that was about 30 minutes with someone from hr. It was very casual and all very basic behavioral questions about a time that I faced a challenge, why I wanted to intern at Meijer and times that I have shown leadership. I did not hear back about anything for a few months. Then 2 months after I had not heard from them I got an email asking me to come to their hq and do an office visit. The office visit was a round robin interview of very similar questions to the first. I was offered a position a week later.
Interview Question – Do I have an issue with public speaking Answer Question
Very Easy Interview
I applied through a recruiter and the process took 4 days - interviewed at Meijer in August 2013.
Interview Details – Hiring, for me, was done through Michigan Works in Detroit. I attended a job fair of sorts, had an interview scheduled there before I left, and went to the store itself for the actual interview. I spoke with two Team Leaders before meeting the Store Director who offered me the actual position.
Interview Question – There wasn't much difficulty in the question department. One that threw me for a loop was when one of the TLs asked me for a time in my life where I had to step up and exceed expectations of me in order to aid the greater good. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – I negotiated nothing. It's a gas station job and I was tired of having no money. The wages are set by the corporate office, so there'd be no reason to attempt to get anything more than what they're offering.
