I was interviewed by a nurse manager and several nurses specialists. They asked me about my past experiences, why nursing and why MSKCC. Then several questions about problem solving: co-workers, patients, etc. Also several specific questions about nursing. They were very knowledgeable, but also very friendly.

I filled out paper application upon arrival - waited for about twenty minutes or so and then saw the interviewer. Interviewer was very easy to talk to. Asked general questions about school and past experiences how you went about picking your major, how you dealt with obstacles in the past, how you show leadership, dealing with patients, what do you consider a good quality about yourself, etc

Normal interview procedure. Meet with the head of the department. 30 min interview. Ask the normal questions. Nothing technical. Very smart man. Great hospital to work for. will pay for any education you want. Will help you out a lot. They have a great mission. No better. I meet only great people there.

Interviewed Sep 2009 in New York, NY (took 2 weeks)
Had a phone interview where they ask your about your interest and where you see yourself in the future. Had a interview with HR where they ask about why Healthcare and have you talk about previous jobs. A week later met with four managers in a series of one on one interviews. There were situational questions and informal oral personality test at the end.

Interviewed Jul 2008 in New York, NY (took 1+ week)
My resume was forward to the human resources department and a few days later I got a call. At that point, there was a ten minute phone interview. From there, I was brought in to meet with a human resources representative in person. That same day, I met with three different managers to interview with each of them.

Interviewed Apr 2008 (took 2 months)
Took multiple phone calls to the nurse leader whom I knew. The nurse leader wanted to hire me back but she took days and weeks sometimes to return my calls. I told HR I would be in the area for 5 days only. I told them this 6 weeks before I actually arrived. They did not call me back until 4 days before I arrived. Whenever I called HR they never knew who I was. How many nurses were relocating from FL at the same time... especially when the nurse leader on the unit wanted me back. I LOVE this hospital and think they're good employer but you have to be persistent and patient because their HR dept is frustrating.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in New York, NY (took 2 days)
I received a phone call from a HR person about my resume which I had submitted almost 3 months earlier. I was asked a few simple questions about my academic experience and career goals and why I was interested in working there. Then I was asked to come in to an interview in person at the HR department. Again, simple questions about my college experience and career goals. The HR person then said they would see if any research managers had needs that fit my interests. Overall the interview was easy, though very vague as I wasn't actually speaking with a person I would be working with.
