Interviewed Sep 2007 (took 2 days)
First interview was done at the school. This was a one on one meeting which from there you would be selected to go to the Merrill Lynch office in New york for a superday interview which consisted of interviews with 3 different people from within the firm. Once the interview was over then they fed you at the local resturant downstairs.

Typical banking interview. Why do you want to do banking? Why the firm? Some technical questions (how would you value a Company? What are the benefits / strengths of the basic valuation methodologies) and then fit (what do you do for fun? are you a hard worker?)

Interviewed Jun 2009 in San Francisco, CA (took 1 week)
First there is a phone interview with either the Recruiting Director or the Portfolio Team that wishes to hire you. They will ask you simple questions like "Tell me about yourself, why do you want to work in the Financial Sector, etc." and then if you do well, you will receive an email or phone call asking to come in for a Round 2/In-person interview. This may get technical depending on the team. If you do well there, they give you an offer.

Interviewed Jan 2007 (took a day)
Oakland County processes applicants under the rules of the Oakland County Employment Merit System. All applicants are screened to determine if they meet minimum qualifications as described on the job posting. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are required to take an examination. The Merit System is Oakland County's version of a civil service system by which applicants obtain their jobs on the basis of their individual qualifications, much like one finds at the state and federal government levels. Competitive testing determines each person's selection for a job, without regard to political affiliation, national origin, religious beliefs, race, sex, age or disability.
Oakland County's Merit System was adopted in November of 1966 after a resolution, placed on the ballot during the general elections, was passed by an overwhelming majority of Oakland County voters. It is now administered by the County Executive through the Human Resources Department, with policies established by the Board of Commissioners.

Interviewed May 2008 in Farmington Hills, MI (took a day)
The interview was pretty intimidating. I met with three members of the team. They asked a variety of questions. The questions focused on what skills could I bring to the team, and why I wanted to join the team. The initial contact was through a job posting at my school's career services website. After emailing the team directly to show that I was interested in the position, they emailed me back the next day. It took about a week to get in for the interview. I have since moved on to another position, but the interview process was nothing to be worried about. I would imagine that different advisors have different interview processes. Just be prepared to discuss what you can bring to the group.

Interviewed Mar 2007 in Chicago, IL (took 3 days)
First it was phone interview which went ok and than they called me in for skills test and group panel interview which went fine just that there were 4 people taking the interview and they all were asking questions at the same time so which one to answer first made me uncomfortable and seemed awkward.

Interviewed Mar 2009 (took 3 weeks)
Contacted by headhunter to discuss if I would be interested in a position with another firm or if I could recommend anyone. Submitted my resume and then held phone interviews with two representatives of the firm and one in person interview.
The headhunter indicated that the salary was something that was flexible, so I entered into interviews. In the end, the salary was not appropriate for me.
