Interviewed Oct 2011 in Westlake Village, CA (took a day)
Easy interview. Seemed to have made up their mind about my qualifications before the interview. I met with two members of a wealth management team, and we just chatted about my goals and aspirations. They were very nice, and they just explained to me what the internship duties were and offered me the position at the end of the interview.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Dublin, County Dublin (Ireland) (took 2 weeks)
The numeracy and logic tests were conducted during the application process. Following this, I was invited to a phone interview which lasted about half an hour. There were a few technical questions, but no specific queries about any particular programming language.

Interviewed Feb 2011 (took 4+ weeks)
Very straight forward. I wasn't tested on anything technical, however I did have a strong resume that may have preceded some of those questions. The interview gave the most emphasis to worth ethic, genuine interest, and the implicitly evaluting intelligence by the answers I gave to general questions. Overall, not difficult. Most of the work is getting processed by HR since its a large company.

Interviewed Jun 2011 (took 6 weeks)
I had a referral from a friend, and I was able to have a few interviews with the branch manager. In my initial interview where we discussed the company, and possibilities for me within the company. On the second interview I took the FIAT test, and then was later asked to take the character test. All of my test scores were good, but unfortunately I wasn't offered a job. He said I was qualified, and had good characteristics, but the company was not hiring at the time. He said he would keep my contact information and if anything came open that he would keep me in mind. Overall I like the company and the staff, and I would probably take a job with them if one comes available.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 5 days)
I first learned and obtained contact with Merrill Lynch through a Job Fair event. At the event there was a bland table with a packets of information and sheets of papers. No bells or whistles. The recruiter was actually the Regional PMD Manager. His disposition was formal and frank. He enjoyed my charisma and said he would call. Though my qualificaitons were unique, the position mentioned being open to professional of varied backgrounds other than financial services so I thought great.
I got an email later in the week that attached a presentation of the program and the company. I scheduled a phone interview for later in the week. Little did I know the enthusiasm that got him interested was not enough. Even though they say they have the one of the best and most extensive training programs, they still would prefer you to have a financial background. Thus the interview didn't pan out.

Received and Declined Offer

Interviewed Sep 2011 (took 5 days)
I applied through my university career center. I was later contacted & asked to visit the office to take the FIAT test as well as meet several FAs currently working at the office. Immediately upon my arrival I took the FIAT test which lasted about 30 minutes. I was not informed whether or not I had successfully completed the test but assumed as much once the interviews began.
The first interview was with the current director/advisor of the Financial Advisor training program (PMD) who was also an FA. He was cordial throughout the interview & spent most of the time talking about his experiences in the position. This felt more like a conversation & less like an interview. Next I spoke to a Vice President & another FA. Aside from the typical jitters that accompany an interview, nothing was particularly unsettling about the process. I was then asked to come back a few days later & meet with the Branch Manager who was not there that day.
When I returned to meet with him, we spoke for a few minutes and he told me that I was likely to receive an offer. He asked me about myself, accomplishments I was proud of, where I saw myself in 5 years, etc.

Reason for Declining
