I submitted my application via their website, and called two days later to follow up. The manager was on lunch so I left my name and she called me back within two hours. We scheduled an interview two days from then. I went in, sat down with the store manager and she asked me some questions about my previous experience, what types of things I did there, etc. It took about 20 minutes, if I remember correctly. Two days later she called and offered me a job, and I started the next week.

Michaels is a nice company who wants to pick the very best employees so they give a battery of very hard intelligence tests, integrity questionaires, skills matches, phone interviews from recruiters, first interviews with store managers and second interviews with DM's, so be prepared for the longest ordeal you have ever gone through just for a job that pays a few bucks over min wage.

I had actually filled out an application online a few months prior to when I received the phone call. Scheduled my interview for 2 days after. I went to the store, showed up a little early, manager was interviewing someone else so I had to wait. All of the people working there were really nice and seemed to enjoy their jobs. When it was my turn for the interview, I went into to a room and she told me right off the bat that they were looking for overnight stockers basically. I was willing to take any job so it didn't matter much to me. She asked me a couple of questions, explained the job to me to make sure I would know what I was getting in to, she was really nice and we joked around a bit. Interview lasted only 15-20 minutes, she said she'd call me on the following Saturday to let me know about the job. I received the call on Saturday about coming in for orientation!

There was really no negotiation, told me up front I'd get at least 20-30 hours a week and pay would be $8.30, which I was happy with.

interview was basic. went to the corp. office in the morning. did 8, 1 on 1 inteviews. with buyers, directors, other product managers. basic questions about my resume. experiences, product knowledge, etc. some asked questions like - what if... then two days later they called and offered the job, asked when I could start and neg. salary.

I applied online, got a call two days later, had the interview 4 days after that (it would have been earlier, but it was thanksgiving weekend), and was offered the job on the spot after the interview.

I called hen to check the status of my application. The manager got on the phone and told me to come in for an interview the next day, I went to the interview and way asked interview question and he told me he called me to let me know if i got it. The next day he called to offer me the position.

I filled out an application online. Got a call a couple months later from a local Store Manager who finally had a couple of openings and he asked me if I was still looking to work at Michaels. I was, so he scheduled me for an in-person interview the next day. I met him then and we spoke at length- the interview ended up lasting about 2 hours! All I needed was to pass a background check and I'd hear back from him soon. I guess all my interview preparation paid off because I was hired and started training less than a week after the in-person interview. Overall, I found the process to be very straightforward and simple.

1:1 with store manager, limited questions, mostly about past experience. 4 page personality test and a several page IQ test. No drug testing. Very low key, not really professional.
