The screening and the technical phone interview were arranged quickly and within couple of days I was notified that I am going to the Finals for 1 on 1 interviews.
Out of 4 interviews 3 were really face to face and one was over the phone (to my surprise). I started with the phone interview and from the first question I felt that something's not right. I almost felt that the interviewer was asking me questions without paying attention. The interviewer was constantly putting me on mute. In two occasions he forgot to un-mute leaving me for prolonged time to wonder what the heck is going on. The questions were best practices around a scenario, business value, "Why do you want to work for Microsoft?", nothing technical etc.
The actual face to face interviews went much better. They would start with a complex scenario that probably comes out of a real customer situation and they would ask what would you do. There will be no follow up questions, so it is important to start big and dive into technical details, you will not be asked. The rest of the interviews were questions around my experience in technology and most importantly in consulting. Consulting experience with large customers is essential apparently.
Many of the questions expected that you explain how are you going to approach different stakeholders such as CTO, CEO, Dev manager and developer.
I received the results after two long weeks. The hiring manager went on vacation the biz day after the interview, which for me personally was a turn off. By the time they called I already have mentally moved on.
The feedback from the recruiter was that I was too specialized in one product line and not across the whole MS product line and that I did not dive in technical details in the scenarios. Considering that I clearly stated my experience this sounded as a really lame excuse. Then he added that they had 5 candidates and two internal candidates. At this point he proposed that I apply for another position they had opening for.

Positive response from the initial recruiter.
Very helpful in giving an overview of MS benefits and overall compensation. Also helpful in setting a potential asking salary range.
Passed the first technical interview, given over the phone. Interviewer was great. Had great insight into the Company and the job. Very willing to share what he knew. Technical questions covered a range of programming topics. Most of the questions were reasonably easy for someone with a few years programming experience. A few questions were a bit off the wall, as in "I don't even have a clue". However, on many of the far out questions, the interviewer indicated that almost no one ever gets those answers correct.
Face to Face was originally supposed to happen within a couple of weeks. Things kept getting postponed.
Eventually made it to Face to Face.
Travel accomodations were excellent. Microsoft does know how to impress candidates.
First tech interview seemed to go well. No real tough questions.
Interview with the hiring manager was a disaster. Either they already had someone picked out and the F2F was just a required formality or their was a terrible breakdown between the recruiter and the hiring manager.
I would have had no problem if their was any indication that I was not selected because other candidates were better. And it would not suprise me if there were better candidates. But the F2F with the hiring manager never even got off the ground. Not even close.
I had worried to death over knowing technical information but the manager was concerned with business value. Technical knowledge was not a factor.
I asked what the interviewer meant by "business value" and the answer was vague at best.
Best as I could tell, business value had to do with saving the client millions of dollars within the first three months. Very little explanation of how this savings was actually implimented.
