      Product Marketing Manager Interview

      Dec 22, 2009
      Anonymous employee
      Redmond, WA
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Microsoft (Redmond, WA) in Jan 2007

      Interview

The Microsoft "loop" consists of an initial interview with the recruiter/staffing representative, which is designed as a "warm up" and validation and initial screening. Then, you interview with 1-5 people on your potential team (the team with the job opening). The more interviews you have, the better you're doing! At the end of the day (if you reach the end -- it's like Survivor!), you'll have an "As Appropriate" interview with the hiring manager. She/he will make the final "hire" vs "no hire" decision. It's a long day!

      Interview

Easy - super hiring day with multiple hiring managers across the org. Interviews across 3 managers. It was based on prioritization for three roles. Everyone was very nice and I felt comfortable and at ease.

      Interview

Four interviews. One day. All 45+ mins. Met with multiple people on the Minecraft team. Everyone was nice and respectful. The recruiter was great. A few weeks later after they told me they went with a more senior candidate, they reopened the role but I was not being considered for it. Heard of this happening across the industry right now. They did require an assignment but it was positioned as a though exercise
