Applied thru agency. Informed that it was a panel interview with HR siting in. On the day of interview, HR rep on MC
2 interviewers, one was ok & gave me an opportunity to answer qns & polite right till the end. The other one was downright rude, no eye contact during the entire interview, always interrupting when i was answering, just walked off before the interview ended. Gave me the impression that they were not too happy to have me there.

First, I met with the head of team and another director. Few days after, I came in again to meet a senior director. Later in the week, I got a call from the agency telling me that they decided to not hire someone even though they did like me... such a waste of time!
Questions were more around my experience and LBO deals than my personnality.

Company had a series on interviews (one with the HR department and then with the division managers). Easy interview questions with an emphasis on microsoft access and fixing problems with macros embedded in access.

Nothing technical; you have to send over some research reports samples for their considerations; they asked whether you understand Japanese culture, how long you need to prepare report with 200 pages...
They strongly prefer people with almost exact experiences before.

The interview was actually nothing, but the competition was fierce.
It was conducted by a professor from my university and he was supposed to pick up about 3 people among about 40 to the bank. Then, the bank would choose only 1 of these 3 people.
No sepcific professional questions, even no chance for u to show ur knowledge and experience.
kind interviewer,however.
finally, a Junior student with family background of banking, certification of JLPT1 won.
