Interviewed Jul 2010 in Miami, FL (took 2 months)
I applied through online, after 5 days i got a call from recruiter and arranged phone interview on the next day. During phone interview she asked the basic questions, and some questions related to your resume. Then after two weeks the hiring manager called me and asked few more technical questions and he was satisfied with my answers. They invited me for personal interview and the interview consisted of a group/panel, they asked mostly behavioral questions.

Interviewed Oct 2009 in Saint Louis, MO (took 2 months)
I applied online at the Monsanto website. I was contacted by a recruiter that setup a phone interview for the following day. The phone interview was conducted by an HR representative that asked me about resume and then proceeded to ask me behavioral type and job related questions. After the phone interview with the HR manager, the hiring manager contacted me two weeks later and proceeded to ask several job related and technical type questions. I was invited for an onsite interview at the HQ which consisted of three panel interviews from different cross functional groups.
Overall everyone was polite and welcoming to the candidates, but I would advise not to get to comfortable or "chummy" because this is an interview afterall. The panel interviews are designed to take you out of your comfort zone and see how well you can think on your feet. I would also advise to have a couple of stories that focus on results from previous positions.
