Client Service Associate Interview

Client Service Associate

I applied online and the process took 3 months - interviewed at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in February 2014.

Interview Details – Applied in October and received a call from a recruiter in February. Quick conversation to confirm interest in the position and schedule a phone interview for the following week.

Interview Question – Basic screening questions. Are you currently working/tell me about your current responsibilties/why are you looking for a new opportunity? Why do you think you're a good fit for this company/position? She offered a brief overview of the position. I wouldn't say this was an unexpected question but she asked what I knew about the company. Final question was in regards to salary. She asked about my current salary and what sort of pay range I was expecting from this position.   View Answer

I applied through college or university and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in May 2013.

Interview Details – I went in for a first round interview and was immediately followed up with an email inviting me back for a second interview the next week. The second interview was more questions I had for the financial group while the first interview was more about getting to know me and my previous experiences.

Interview Question – I was told I passed two unexpected "tests" that the group had for interview candidates. The first test I passed was being on time, or 5 minutes early for the interview. The second test was having an extra resume on hand because one of the associates "forgot hers".   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – The starting salary was lower than I expected at 35K, and upon passing the Series 7 salary only increases to 36K.

Interview Details – Phone interview with Complex Service Manager, then interview with multiple financial advisors at the branches to find the best fit - mostly based on personalities meshing well. Final interview is with the Branch Manager.

Interview Question – Typical questions such as why did you leave your former employeer, why do you want to work here, why did you pick your major...etc.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Not much room for negotiation, have to take what they give you.

I applied through other source and interviewed at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.

Interview Details – I have had one interview in the office and one on the phone. I am most impressed by the friendly nature and of the employees and the professional atmosphere in the office. I have been treated in a highly respectful manner. The office interview was with two members of the team in need and the phone interview was with the director of the team.

Interview Question – Really there was nothing out of the ordinary in terms of questions... if prepared one would not be thrown off by any of the questions!   Answer Question

The process took 2 months - interviewed at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in May 2011.

Interview Details – Phone interview with recruiter which was pretty laid back. 1 on 1 interview wasn't too bad- general questions were asked. Everyone was very nice and outgoing. Was given a stock report and asked to explain what it is. The last interview with the senior vice president was more rigid and serious. He tried to find out if I was in it for the long term

Interview Question – What is your valuation technique and why?   Answer Question

Client Service Associate Interview

I applied through college or university and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in January 2011.

Interview Details – I received an email from the firm indicating they had found my resume on the University's career services website. The actual scheduling of the interview took 2 weeks. When an interview was finally scheduled, I requested a copy of the job description, as I was not able to find one on the internet. Upon receipt of the job description I was very disappointed. The job is an admin clerk. I have 20 years of experience in finance and accounting. I am extremely overqualified for this position. I went to the interview with the hopes that perhaps there was some mistake. When I arrived the interviewer was unprepared. I respectfully declined an opportunity to be considered for this position.

Interview Question – Tell me about yourself.   Answer Question
