Interviewed Oct 2009 in Schaumburg, IL (took a day)
The interview was more like an interrogation than anything. The interviewer definitely did not want to be there and he just acted like he was mad about something the whole time. Overall, it was very unprofessional on their part. I am sure not all their interviews go this way, but my experience was not a good one.

Interviewed Apr 2010 in Schaumburg, IL (took 5 days)
A recruiter found my resume online and sent me an email regarding a Motorola position as a Billing Clerk.I responded and she called me back in 5 min. She asked me some questions and said she would like to submit my resume to the Motorola hiring manager. I said of course! 2 hours later she called me back to tell me the hiring manager wanted to have a phone interview the next day. We had that interview which couldn't have gone any better. The hiring manager said they had a computer ready but would have to get her decision cleared on Monday and have IT set me up with a password and login ID. I then tt my recruiter again and she said when she hears from Motorola , she will fed ex me paperwork to get started on drug screening and background check. we are in this process currentyl.

My best advice to anyone job hunting is that when you talk to recruiters or potential employer, talk with a smile on your face . My customer service background taught me that and I get compliments on that all the time. You want to sound your happiest and enthusiastic on the phone as well as in person.

Interviewed Mar 2010 in Schaumburg, IL (took 2 weeks)
About two-three weeks after I had applied online on their jobs website, I got an email saying that the GNMO team at Schaumburg, IL is interested to interview me. The interview was very comprehensive, covering almost all the technologies and domains mentioned in their job description. If I could not answer something right away, the interviewer was helpful enough to give hints. It also comprised of a personality test, about my preferences, and my decision making process at major junctures in my professional life.

Interviewed Oct 2008 in Schaumburg, IL (took 1 week)
HR analyst emailed me to setup a time to interview in Shaumburg, IL. No interview costs were paid ( I traveled from Southern IL to Chicago). Interview consisted of the department manager and the team lead. Easy interview....no challenging questions. 2 days later I had a job offer. I was given the opportunity to decide when my first day was...very accommodating to someone who is moving from 300 miles away.

Not able to negotiate. It was a take-it-or-leave-it-offer since the company is losing money hand over fist.

Interviewed Mar 2009 in Chicago, IL (took 6+ weeks)
Initial phone interview with hiring manager, then interview with colleague. Was invited onsite for group and 1:1 interviews. Company followed up on my references and interviewed them. Initially hiring manager offered a telecommute job, which I was interested in. When I went onsite to interview, there was more pressure to relocate. I believe I was turned down because I was not a local candidate, even though they never came back to me to see if I was willing to relocate. Communication process throughout the process was very rough - I had to keep pinging the hiring manager to find out what was going on, even after he gave me dates he would get back to me. Seemed to be a lot of chaos in the internal company structure.

Interviewed Feb 2008 in Chicago, IL (took a day)
Two interview discussions via phone, very personable interviews, pointed questions about product development process. Bottom line, my experience didn't align with their job needs, was very specific...so this ended the interview process after two calls. However, discussion was very direct and insightful, did not pull punches on necessary qualifications, very upfront which I appreciated.

Interviewed Oct 2008 in Chicago, IL (took a day)
First talked on the phone and due to my situation of already being well-into the process with another company, they were able to 'rush' me in for a day-long interview. Motorola, in my opinion, was great in that not only did they get me in quickly but they also were genuinely interested in what *I* wanted to do and what I liked. While I applied for a given position, they had many positions which I could actually fill.
Part of the interview was a design task which I had one hour to work on and then had to present (read: simply discuss) with about 3~4 people in the room. From this, in my opinion, they are gathering how I was thinking about the design process.
Also met some of my would-be co-workers for lunch; it was good to get away from the higher-ups for a bit and chat with people I would be working with.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
A very low offer; also happened to be just a few months (this was in Oct 2008) before they laid off most of the staff in the UCD departments (Jan 2009). Other offers at the time were $18,000/yr higher than Motorola's.

Interviewed Jun 2008 in Libertyville, IL (took 2 weeks)
The interview process was actually great. The timeframe was a bit extended due to employee vacation time, but it was still smooth. I was flown to Chicago for the second and third portions of the interview so it was kind of exciting.
